H&C Accounting is an ACCA registered practice. We work with a variety of clients offering the very best in accountancy, tax and business advisory services.

We’ve grown steadily and are lucky to have a strong pipeline of new customers, which predominantly originate from existing client referrals and from our relationship with Holder & Combes Ltd, a firm of Chartered Financial Planners.

The business launched in April 2020 and currently has a portfolio of more than 525 clients.

Tasks

As a Finance administrator, you’ll report to one of our client managers, as well as supporting our wider team of accountants/client managers across the entire portfolio.

Initially, you’ll work closely with the team to learn about all of our internal systems and processes, as well as how we interact with clients and support client queries. You will have a varied workload split between practice administration and client portfolio support.

Practice administration will span day-to-day operations and more project-based work that contributes to improved service levels and ultimately the smooth running and growth of the practice. For this you’ll report to Kate, our Business Operations Lead, supporting in coordinating central workflows, processes, and practice management operations.

You’ll respond to new enquiries through our website and assist the team in onboarding new customers. You will assist in the initial steps of obtaining and processing new client information for the purpose of commencing their engagement, ensuring that KYC and AML processes are followed. While you are not responsible for collecting or processing at every stage of this process you will be the one coordinating to ensure it’s done promptly.

Client portfolio work will involve supporting the team with tasks such as; bookkeeping, VAT Returns, annual accounts preparation, corporation tax compliance, and personal tax.

Requirements

Most importantly, you will have previous experience working in an administration or operations role within an accountancy or legal practice (or similar regulated industry).

Much of your work will be supporting the wider team. You’ll need to be a team player and reliable. You'll be able to talk to us about how you’ve helped other people in the past.

We manage large workloads that require efficient delivery. Being organised with the ability to multitask will be key for this position. We’ll want to know about the steps you take to stay focused and prioritise your workload.

You’ll be dealing with urgent client queries and support calls, so it’s important that you are confident in your communication and can remain professional at all times. We’ll want to hear about similar experiences you’ve had in your personal or professional life and how you handled it.

Additionally, you’ll be emailing clients directly, so you’ll need to hold an excellent level of written English.

You’ll need to develop strong internal relationships to build influence to ensure processes are followed.

You’ll need basic IT skills across the usual tools across the usual Microsoft or Google workspaces i.e. Excel/Sheets.
