AboutWalmart Energy Transformation  

The Walmart Energy Transformation strategy aims to decarbonize our operations while capturing emerging new value streams that help catalyze societal decarbonization. Walmart has recently committed to bringing 10 GW of clean energy online by 2030, in addition to our publicly stated goals of 50% clean powered by 2025, 100% clean powered by 2035, and zero emissions in our operations by 2040.   

 

In addition to new build clean energy assets, we aim to increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions across our facilities and transition our fleet to zero emissions vehicles.  We also aim to build a public EV charging network to provide energy choice and affordability for our customers and local communities. 

 

We are a team of seasoned energy veterans dedicated to realizing Walmart’s regenerative commitments and leveraging Walmart’s platform to support the decarbonization of our customers, associates, communities, and suppliers.  Because energy touches everything, we work across Walmart, particularly real estate, facilities, supply chain, network design, transportation, and customer experience. We have come across Walmart, utilities, developers, banking, clean energy consulting and environmental NGOs. We are innovators and change agents determined to make an impact.  We are analytical and entrepreneurial; thoughtful and practical. 

 

The team reports directly to the COO of Walmart US and the Chief Sustainability Officer. In this role, you will report to the Senor Manager, Energy Solutions. This position is based in Bentonville, Arkansas. No remote candidates being considered now. 

 

What you will do… 

  • Support the execution of long-term, strategic partnerships with renewable energy developers to secure programmatic access to renewable energy globally across Walmart’s geographic footprint, including execution of primarily clean energy tax equity investments, and in certain situations power purchase agreements; develop and drive execution of value-optimized strategy to achieve decarbonization targets within desired timeframe 

  • Leverage experience in origination, financial analysis and modeling, investing diligence, and energy procurement to support the development of a multi-GW portfolio of offsite renewable investments and power contracts that meet Walmart’s global energy needs 

  • Drive diligence, structuring, and execution of tax equity investments to deploy capital into offsite renewable energy projects, targeted at opportunities that deliver economic value, enable emissions reductions, and deepen customer and/or associate relationships through the expansion of access to low-cost, reliable clean energy 

  • Support the strategy by managing pipeline of new opportunities and developer relationships; reporting against renewable energy tax equity investments; and supporting execution of long-term power purchase agreements 

  • Drive the execution of multiple business plans and projects; remove barriers and obstacles that impact performance; measure progress; and demonstrate adaptability and support continuous learning 

  • Execute interventions in troubled projects by performing root cause analysis and problem identification; implement plans to course correct projects; and monitor execution of the plans to ensure successful completion of the projects and initiatives. 

  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; using the Open Door Policy; and applying these in executing business processes and practices. 

  • Completes work assignments and priorities by using policies, data, and resources; collaborating with managers, co-workers, customers, and other business partners; identifying priorities, deadlines, and expectations; carrying out tasks; communicating progress and information; determining and recommending ways to address improvement opportunities; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback

The annual salary range for this position is $70,000.00-$130,000.00
