Overview:

Join AIR as a Technical Assistant with our Workforce Development program area, as we support the healthy, productive, and evolving workforce vital to the United States’ economy and democracy. Our experts have decades of experience in workforce policy and practice, labor policy, postsecondary transformation, economics, and adult education. We work together towards addressing structural barriers in the workforce across race, class, and gender. We provide rigorous research and evaluation, and results-driven technical assistance and training throughout the United States at all levels of the system.

This position will play a key role in supporting workforce projects at the regional, state, and national levels. They will gather information and data on best practices, assist with information tracking, and support project work at the local, state, and national levels.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations. This does not include U.S. territories.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Contribute to project deliverables, technical assistance projects and events on a variety of workforce-related projects
  • Assist with the coordination of project plans and business development projects
  • Review, analyze, and synthesize information and/or data using appropriate practices and techniques
  • Identify and synthesize research on evidence-based practices for workforce systems
  • Communicate effectively with external clients at varying levels with diverse backgrounds
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field such as public policy, sociology, public administration, social work, psychology, or education
  • Knowledge and interest in one or more of the following areas: workforce development, human capital, adult learning, post-secondary education, workforce innovations, individuals with disabilities and/or workforce policy and regulations
  • Experience translating research into practice for diverse audiences in both virtual and in-person settings
  • Experience in a related field or supporting TA projects (e.g., coordinating large streams of work, collecting, and analyzing data, developing resources) preferred, but not required

Skills:

  • Excellent organization and time management
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
  • Comfortable working in a virtual/dispersed work environment

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated salary of $25.50/hr. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
