Job Description:

 

The Safety and Workers Compensation Program Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company's safety and workers compensation programs. This role focuses on preventing workplace injuries and illnesses through proactive measures, compliance with safety regulations, and
fostering a culture of safety awareness. The manager will also oversee the administration of workers’ compensation claims, ensuring timely and accurate processing. As a member of the Home Office HR Team, the Workers Compensation Program Manager will also be responsible for reporting, investigation, and
analysis; litigation management; resolution/outcome management; and the delivery of claim information.

 

What will I do every day?

Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Risk Assessments: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits at Home Office and Communities to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Training and Education: Design and deliver safety training programs to associates at all levels, ensuring they are aware of workplace safety practices and regulations.
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and implement preventive measures.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations and standards.
• Safety Committees: Coordinate, partner and lead safety committee meetings to review safety performance and initiatives.
• Collaboration: Partner with National Director of Environmental Health and Safety as appropriate. Workers Compensation Program Management
• Claims Administration: Oversee the administration of workers compensation claims, including reporting, documentation, and communication with insurance carriers and medical providers.

•Develop and manage return-to-work program to facilitate employees' safe and timely return to work in collaboration with HR Community Partners as appropriate.
• Data Analysis: Analyze workers compensation data to identify trends and areas for improvement in safety practices. Create reports to share and publish on our dashboards that highlight top and under performers. Work with Executive Directors/VP of Operations and HR to focus on reducing claims using the data to set priorities.
• Cost Control: Implement strategies to manage and reduce workers compensation costs through proactive safety measures and effective claims management.
• Associate Support: Provide support and guidance to associates regarding workers’ compensation benefits and processes.
• Proactive Safety Measures: Implement initiatives and programs aimed at preventing workplace injuries and promoting health and safety.
• Continuously evaluate and improve safety and workers compensation programs based on feedback, data analysis, and best practices.
• Utilize technology and data analytics to enhance safety monitoring, reporting, and decision-making.
• High focus on training all supervisors in preventative programs they can easily train and share with their associates.

 
What will I need to be successful in this role?

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, workers compensation, or a related role.
• Certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), or similar are preferred.
• Experience working in a senior living community work environment preferred. Skills and Competencies
• In-depth understanding of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA), workers compensation laws, and risk management principles.
• Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement effective safety and prevention strategies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for training, reporting, and interacting with employees at all levels.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage safety programs and coordinate cross functional teams.
• Effective problem-solving abilities to address safety issues and workers compensation claims

 

Work Environment


• Office setting/work from home with regular visits to various communities
• Will require occasional travel to different company locations. Up to 30%

 

Physical Requirements
• Ability to conduct site inspections and walk through various work environments.
• Must be able to lift and carry safety equipment and training materials.
