Your missions

Overview:

NV5 Geospatial (NV5G) is actively recruiting a GIS Technician with experience in geospatial technologies and natural sciences. This position supports Analysts and Senior Analysts in the production and processing of natural resource related projects. The Technician should be able to produce accurate and precise products in a consistent and timely manner. Technicians should be self-motivated with exceptional critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. The Technician should also be comfortable conducting occasional fieldwork on a boat in a variety of weather. Primary duties of a technician in the eGIS group includes translation of datasheets to a standard GIS database schema and metadata population in accordance with federal standards (CSDGM and ISO), field data collection, digitizing, and photo interpretation. This position is a fully remote position within an engaged, virtual division at NV5 requiring frequent use of Teams Video technology, and occasional in person field work.

 

Work Environment:

  • This position is a Hybrud position supporting the St. Petersburg, FL Office
  • Travel <10% of the time

Responsibilities:
  • Implements georeferencing, coordinate geometry, digitizing and other techniques to accurately represent data in GIS
  • Identifies/Investigates multiple sources to be used for attribution and direct geospatial application
  • Manipulates and classifies data with great attention to detail and efficiency 
  • Maintains precision and accuracy in high volume workflows 
  • Implements established QA/QC protocols
  • Collect data through field work
  • All other reasonable duties as assigned
  • Supports production for marine and water-based projects
Qualifications:

  • Able to travel locally or nationally for occasional team meetings/conferences (<10% travel)

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite 
  • Coursework in GIS 
  • Coursework in natural sciences 
  • Experience with ArcGIS software 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree 
  • One year experience with ArcPro software
