Description

Scopely is looking for a Tech QA Manager to join our Monopoly Go! team in Mexico City on a hybrid basis.

Monopoly GO! is our new casual game and a key franchise that has just become one of Scopely’s largest games enjoyed by millions of players. The team is based in Europe and the US, and works every day to create captivating new experiences for our players.
What You Will Do
Reporting into the QA Director, you will manage the quality efforts of various teams (Pods) that are responsible for the development, integration and release of tools and technologies. These include our Client and Server Foundations, Creative Pipeline, Live Services, Build and Automation efforts, In House Tooling and other technical components that make up the foundation on which our flagship title MonopolyGo! is built upon.
With a team of QA Engineers & Analysts, both internal and external, you will help shape the future on how we continue to iterate to success, and evolve the way we work.
  • Line manage Tech QA leadership and wider QA resource where applicable, supporting their development and growth through IDPs, KPOs and 121’s  
  • Design, implement and upkeep a solid Tech QA framework, inline with the wider business’ goals and objectives 
  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of vacant QA positions within the Tech team
  • Coordinate and oversee testing from our external test vendor(s), prioritizing efforts and managing resource allocation with other QA management on the project
  • Working with the QA Director and Central Service teams, manage the direction of the test automation framework and strategy
  • Be a leading partner with the Technical Foundation groups Tech Producer and Tech Lead to ensure we are delivering technology at the highest quality bar at all times
  • Support hardware baseline definitions and be an advocate of performance expectations 
  • Review product quality against defined thresholds of key technical KPIs such as ANRs and Crash Rates, working closely with Technical Foundation leadership to align, raise concerns, and provide swift resolution 
  • Manage & govern a healthy and structured repository of dedicated test suites / cases for new and pre existing Tech 
  • Work closely with the wider QA team to assess tooling and manual processes, and where Tech solutions could assist to better test efficiency and confidence 
  • Be a primary QA DRI for all Tech Foundation releases
  • Be able to provide an holistic quality overview of Techs upcoming changes or additions at any given time, through relevant tracking and reporting 
  • Coordinate testing needs surrounding technical investigation of issues uncovered through negative KPI trends and / or Customer Support escalations
  • Deliver sufficient test frameworks for when a client is absent, enabling full confidence in the rollout of new and existing Tech in such circumstances  
  • Support and help establish relevant governance and test frameworks between server and client communications 
  • Coordinate with the QA Director to remain within the defined QA annual operating plan
  • Standardize QA efforts across all Tech pods where plausible
  • Support and proactively challenge for sufficient QA time within the Tech Roadmap / Release Train based on your teams needs  
  • Identify and track releases of relevant new industry hardware and software (e.g. a new OS), arranging beta’s where plausible and communicating testing needs 
  • Contribute and be a part of the TopHat Release Train best practices, policing and supporting the gatekeeping of quality at each key milestone 
  • Collaborate with Scopely’s Certification and Release team when it comes to 3rd party compliance and performance data captures
  • Work closely with other internal disciplines to highlight pain points and known quality concerns with existing Tech to improve test efforts
  • Attend Tech team ceremonies to remain current and knowledgeable on the work being undertaken at any given time
  • Generate and maintain a deep understanding of MonopolyGo! and its core game mechanics, assisting and carrying out other duties to support the game QA team where necessary
  • Promote a ‘shift left’ attitude within Tech and the wider business, helping discover and resolve issues as early as possible within the production pipeline
  • Lead by example with regards to the Scopely tenets
What We’re Looking For

  • An ability to negotiate and ensure you and your team's message is heard, all the while with a sound business understanding to ensure correct balance and needs are met 
  • Proactive, enthusiastic and self-motivated  
  • Flexible to an agile setup with the ability to multitask, managing coverage for multiple high profile releases with strict deadlines 
  • A strong commercial awareness with an understanding of business priorities and goals 
  • Comfortable traveling on occasion to offshore hub locations 
  • Exceptional reporting capabilities 
  • Extensive knowledge of JIRA and / or similar bug tracking systems 
  • Mobile exposure and an understanding of Apple / Google submission protocol
  • A sound understanding of the gaming industry and the typical end to end development lifecycle
  • Knowledge and experience working with Unity
  • Familiarity with automation frameworks and how to build these
