The position is responsible for supporting the principal activities of CUNA Mutual’s asset/liability management (ALM) function.  This group’s responsibilities focus primarily on managing economic risk exposures impacting both the assets and liabilities of the organization. The position will play a key support role to provide analysis to the Product, Investment, and Finance Divisions.

*This role may be based out of our Madison, WI location or be 100% remote for the right candidate.*

Job Responsibilities:

• Facilitation of the capital market risks impacting both assets and liabilities
  • Utilize cash flow projections, duration/convexity metrics, and scenario analysis metrics
  • Ensure compliance with ALM policy and make policy adjustments as needed
  • Provide timely reports summarizing the capital market risk exposures for business leaders

• Allocation of investment return and risk across product lines
  • Assist in the maintenance of investment income allocation process and the reporting of results
  • Ensure that assets supporting product lines are appropriate based on the risk characteristics of the liabilities
  • Regularly summarize liability equity risk exposures and provide trading desk with necessary information to maintain the equity hedge program

• Maintain economic scenario generation capabilities within CUNA Mutual
  • Work with business partners to supply scenarios needed to carry out analysis for pricing, reserving, risk assessment, etc.

• Support asset modeling for asset adequacy testing
• Develop new and creative solutions to Investment Risk and ALM issues
• Conduct analysis and draw conclusions
• Analyze and apply technical info to practical situations and assess opportunities for improvement

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional related work experience
• Three years' experience in business-related role, preferably to include:
  • Planning and problem-solving skills
  • Leading small to medium project efforts
  • Working independently and with teams
  • Analyzing processes, identifying problems and their root causes, and assisting in the development of improvements
  • Building relationships with peers and stakeholders

• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, such as Excel and PowerPoint
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business unit leaders
• Effective written and verbal communications
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proven ability to identify process improvements
• Progress towards/interest in obtaining CFA designation preferred
