The position is responsible for supporting the principal activities of CUNA Mutual’s asset/liability management (ALM) function. This group’s responsibilities focus primarily on managing economic risk exposures impacting both the assets and liabilities of the organization. The position will play a key support role to provide analysis to the Product, Investment, and Finance Divisions.
*This role may be based out of our Madison, WI location or be 100% remote for the right candidate.*
Job Responsibilities:
- Facilitation of the capital market risks impacting both assets and liabilities
- Utilize cash flow projections, duration/convexity metrics, and scenario analysis metrics
- Ensure compliance with ALM policy and make policy adjustments as needed
- Provide timely reports summarizing the capital market risk exposures for business leaders
- Allocation of investment return and risk across product lines
- Assist in the maintenance of investment income allocation process and the reporting of results
- Ensure that assets supporting product lines are appropriate based on the risk characteristics of the liabilities
- Regularly summarize liability equity risk exposures and provide trading desk with necessary information to maintain the equity hedge program
- Maintain economic scenario generation capabilities within CUNA Mutual
- Work with business partners to supply scenarios needed to carry out analysis for pricing, reserving, risk assessment, etc.
- Support asset modeling for asset adequacy testing
- Develop new and creative solutions to Investment Risk and ALM issues
- Conduct analysis and draw conclusions
- Analyze and apply technical info to practical situations and assess opportunities for improvement
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional related work experience
- Three years' experience in business-related role, preferably to include:
- Planning and problem-solving skills
- Leading small to medium project efforts
- Working independently and with teams
- Analyzing processes, identifying problems and their root causes, and assisting in the development of improvements
- Building relationships with peers and stakeholders
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, such as Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with business unit leaders
- Effective written and verbal communications
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proven ability to identify process improvements
- Progress towards/interest in obtaining CFA designation preferred

Base Salary Range:
$69,000.00 - $103,400.00
