Your missions

The Opportunity:

The Mining Specialist is responsible for attaining sales goals and growing Avantor’s business with focus on mining analytical labs and mining proprietary products, supporting and working in conjunction with the Sales Representatives.

Sales Representatives remain responsible for initiating and maintaining contact with their customers, for winning and renewing orders, for seeking out new sales opportunities, and for addressing customer requests, complaints, or concerns.

The geographical focus is Canada, with a view towards driving strategies to develop Avantor’s long established positions in the market.

The role involve collaboration across global business units, cross functional teams as well as understanding the global dynamics of the mining and battery end markets.

What we are looking for:

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in a technical field

  • Experience within the mining industry strongly preferred

  • Proven B2B international business development and/or sales experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills. Must be proficient and experienced with computers to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook – experienced with a Customer Relationship Management system to track sales opportunities.

  • Analytical modeling - develop models and design dashboards to identify improvement opportunities

  • Process Improvement - Identification of opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and model extension

  • Achievement oriented, self-motivated, self-starter

  • Ability to travel (50%)

How you will thrive and create an impact:

  • Meet or exceed sales & margins targets for products sold to mining analytical labs, working in conjunction with the Sales Representatives

  • Manage large projects (e.g., new lab set-up or expansion) and maximize sales opportunities at those projects

  • Develop new customers; seek out new sales opportunities.

  • Conducts joint sales calls in order to ascertain customer needs and close sales.

  • Support sales teams by mapping the accounts and providing training & technical expertise

  • Convert competitive products to items available in our product portfolio.

  • Communicate product portfolio value proposition to sales reps, customers & suppliers

  • Prepare and evaluate territory reviews; attend Avantor regional and national sales meetings.

  • Provide management with territory opportunities to be used as input for the preparation of the annual sales and profitability budgets (Internal Operating Plans – IOP).

  • Continually enhances product and application knowledge, as well as sales skills

  • Develop relationships with key suppliers and key opinion leaders within the end markets to strengthen Avantor’s position as a go-to partner

  • Identify application and technology trends to align the Avantor offering with focus on new product introductions

  • Perform other duties as assigned
