Our client is a specialist referral centre for Central Australia, with 160 beds providing services to the 27,000 residents of the local community and a further 20,000 people in remote communities. Contract: 4 weeks +

Role Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing high quality clinical care for Residents within established policies, guidelines, and procedures of our client. Specifically, in the following:

• To provide healthcare to patients who urgently need treatment so that they can stabilize their vital signs and limit pain and discomfort. To provide safe, effective, and appropriate care in a patient focused ambulatory care environment.
• To identify the needs of a patient, filling out charts and intake paper and collecting information and samples so they can run tests.

Responsibilities

• Triage incoming patients based on level of injury or illness.
• Perform resuscitation and CPR as necessary to respond effectively to medical emergencies and ensure the immediate stabilization of patients in critical conditions.

Knowledge and skills

• Able to demonstrate high level of clinical reasoning, critical thinking and evidence-based practice
• Experience in working closely with emergency physicians and ER staff to schedule urgent
• care and discuss / plan patient treatment.
• Demonstrated ability to think critically under pressure, analyse complex situations, and
• make sound decisions to ensure the best possible outcomes to patients.
• Understanding of patient safety and quality education and delivery of services in accordance with the National Patient Safety and Quality Standards, Work Health & Safety Act, and Ministry of Health risk management frameworks

Qualifications & Requirements

• APHRA registration as a Registered Nurse, current with no restrictions
• Must hold a recognised Post-Graduate qualification in Emergency Care Nursing and/or 2 years equivalent clinical experience in the field.
• Current Police Check
• Valid and up to date Ochre Card or approved exemption
• Vaccinations record
• Required registration under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
