The Behavioral Product Managing Director role is a key leadership position to help shape and define EBH strategy through a keen understanding of behavioral health, payer and employer business processes and the competitive landscape. The role focuses on providing thought leadership across executive matrix team partners on strategy formulation. This role is also responsible for the development and management of a suite of behavioral products to achieve our mission and fuel profitable growth. This role will be responsible for driving significant year over year revenue and profit growth for the organization.

This position will partner closely with the Behavioral Health senior leadership team to define and execute a multi-year product strategy.  Key responsibilities include managing a full suite of behavioral products across the spectrum of emerging / minimum viable / established products, acquiring, and developing product talent and developing digital first solutions that are insight driven. This role has direct accountability for growing the business through strategic leadership of the Account Management function. 

The Managing Director reports directly to the SVP of Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities:

  • Positioned as the Leader in the organization for end-to-end ownership of the Evernorth Behavioral Health product suite. Define the vision for EBH products, inclusive of advancing innovative disruptive solutions.

  • Leverage internal and external sources to keep a constant pulse on the marketplace to understand future state opportunities of strategic focus. Develop and socialize 5-year roadmap.

  • Proactively partner with key business development / sales leadership across multiple channels (Cigna Health Care, Evernorth, eviCore, PBM) to evaluate any potential capabilities/programs to ensure that all modeling and requirements of these programs are accurately evaluated and in alignment with EBH strategic priorities.

  • Collaborate with corporate development on potential acquisition, partnership and other strategies that will accelerate the strategy and deliver growth and affordability commitments.

  • Represent EBH at key conferences, events, trade shows, etc., as a thought leader as well as subject matter expert in the area of behavioral health care

  • Develop and leverage robust partnerships across the organization (Operations, Provider Network, Finance, Portfolio, PMO) to align on strategic priorities and the resources needed to execute on them.

  • Guide and mentor behavioral product team to develop and deliver business cases to support recommended strategies and deliver product enhancements / new product solutions.

  • Work with matrixed partners to ensure competitive pricing, marketing and outcome guarantees for solutions.

  • Collaborate with other product leaders across the enterprise to create integration and coordination points that create additive value for clients and customers when the products are sold together.

  • Work closely with distribution partners to drive product performance, penetration, and achievement of Behavioral Health strategy plan commitments.

  • Provide leadership and support to Account Management team, ensure that the voice of the customer is reflected in EBH products.

Knowledge/Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent years of experience in related field(s). MBA preferred.

  • 10+ years of product development experience required.

  • 10+ years of healthcare experience. Commercial, Government, PBM industry experience preferred.

  • Knowledge of Cigna and ESI’s segments, products and supporting platforms preferred.

  • Previous experience leading transformative change

  • History of developing new and innovative solutions that result in better health and value.

  • Strategic thinker with a track record for developing business strategies and creating innovative, yet profitable and scalable solutions to difficult problems.

  • Strong presentation and communication skills with an ability to interact at all levels of leadership, with technical experts, and with external clients and partners.

  • Trusted team player with proven ability to drive, influence and problem-solve to conclusion across Cigna and Evernorth businesses and teams.  

  • Creative thinker with ability to think outside the box and translate ideas into a compelling strategy.

  • Proven communication skills across various levels in the organization and an ability to make the complex simple.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive results with sense of urgency.


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 192,200 - 320,400 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
