As Global Pricing Strategy Manager you will play a critical role in achieving Hempel’s Double Impact strategy. We are transforming the way we price and you will play a key role in implementing, reviewing and ultimately owning our pricing strategy. You will own and continue improving our value based pricing methodology, across products, services, solutions and charges. You will become the Business Process Owner for all our pricing related processes and work together with our digital organization to enhance our digital backbone and tools to deliver the transformation.

Global Pricing Strategy is a new team and function in Hempel. Pricing has been identified as a key enabler in strategic roadmap and we are building the first centre of excellence for pricing. As a key member of the Revenue Management leadership team you will have the opportunity to help us build a world class pricing organisation. You will have the opportunity to shape your team and your own future and take charge in owning pricing strategy in Hempel.

As Global Pricing Strategy Manager you will work closely with Solution Management, R&D, Sales, Commercial Excellence and the rest of the Revenue Management organisation to create successful pricing strategies that support and enable our sales teams to achieve our go-to-market strategy per segment and area.

How will your contribution impact our business and our future?

In this position you drive and own our pricing strategies across Marine, Energy and Infrastructure, your ability to define and implement the right pricing strategies will determine our success in achieving sustainable growth across the world. As you take charge of our value based pricing methodology you will have the opportunity and responsibility to drive a large change programme across the organization and ultimately make sure we are successful in our pricing transformation. Your focus will initially be embedding value based pricing across the organization and defining the right strategies to maximize the value we get from our products and services across various and challenging market conditions around the world. Furthermore you will:

  • Be Hempel’s expert on price positioning, price elasticity (incl. validation and testing), and in using industry data from both internal and external sources to synthesize analyses and build insights (via dashboards) that drive revenue growth

  • Help solution management to define the price positioning of new product launches. Reinforce relationship with Product Managers by providing the right intelligence and insights: price points, volume and demand curves, to leverage decision making process.

  • Translate our global & segment business strategy into pricing concepts and their localization

  • Define pricing objectives incl. aligned sales targets

  • (Re) evaluate value drivers and subsequent price setting and steering

  • Own Pricing Governance

  • Manage Product Profitability

  • Set pricing & margin objectives and ensuring their achievement

  • Co-define innovative sales targets in line with business objectives

  • Holding dialogue with local salesforce and customers to re-evaluate changing value drivers; steering prices accordingly

  • Be the Business Process Owner for Pricing

  • Build, develop and manage the price strategy team

You will be joining the Revenue Management team and be based in either Kgs. Lyngby,  Denmark or in Polinyà, Spain but work with the rest of the organization who will be spread around the world.

You should expect some international travel.

We are looking for a leader who thrives in strategy creation and execution and in leading change

We expect you to have experience as a leader of others (min. 3 years) and with pricing (min. 8 years) having owned strategy and product positioning for at least three years. You must have proven experience in driving large scale changes in an organization. Your educational background is most likely in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Finance or Business. We also expect the following from you:

  • A solid commercial toolbox, including pricing, quantitative analysis, commercial strategy, financial modelling, product analysis, etc. – coming from a consultancy house and combined with industry knowledge is an advantage

  • Strong project management skills to drive multiple priorities and complex uses with effective solution, data driven and able to attend to details

  • Seasoned end-to-end pricing understanding

  • Understanding of product management

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate result-oriented teams in a global environment

  • Strong strategic outlook and vision, critical thinking and analytical, problem-solving skills and highly collaborative

  • Excellent oral and written communication and inter-personal skills

  • Resilient, ability to drive results in a challenging business environment

  • Strong communication & networking capabilities with passion to challenge the organization when driving optimizations

  • Fluent in English, other languages an advantage

As a person, you like taking change and are proactive by nature. You enjoy solving complex problems, you are comfortable dealing with ambiguity and understand that the wider team comes before any individual. You like to challenge status quo when you see room for improvement but also come up with solutions and suggestions to tackle those challenges. You are capable of 360° leading, and are known for your time management and prioritization skills.
