Job Description:

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Procurement Category Manager to join our global team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings and value creation across our procurement categories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Member of Hempel’s global category management team driving strategy and execution across regions.
  • Keep track of market developments.
  • Manage supplier relationships.
  • Deliver on targets including cost optimization and working capital improvement, sustainability, supplier performance optimization.
  • Support key elements of Hempel’s overall Operations strategy, e.g., the Sales & Operations Planning process.
  • Develop and implement global sourcing strategy and plan and work closely with regional team to strive for better results to enhance competence of supply base
  • Drive continuous cost optimization activities through ongoing market tracking, supplier selection and negotiations in the chemicals industry. Deliver savings in collaboration with Hempel R&D and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for managing the category of additives for non water-borne and related projects once assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of category management experience with global exposure.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Experience from chemical industry, coating and additives for coating industry preferred.
  • Proven analytical skills – number crunching and business understanding.
  • Skilled in financial analysis, total cost of ownership
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written including slide writing.
  • Fluent in English (oral, written).
