Geotechnical Engineer Junior

1.Job description

Fugro is seeking a bright, highly skilled and motivated Junior Geotechnical Engineer with strong feeling for geotechnics and a creative mind-set to join our growing land consultancy team in Belgium. The Fugro office in Belgium offers specialized consultancy and engineering services worldwide in both the marine and land environment for projects in the energy and infrastructure markets.

2.Roles and responsibilities

The successful candidate will actively participate to the development of the land consultancy business. In particular, the key roles and responsibilities associated with this position include:  

• Plan, develop, coordinate, prepare and oversee reporting for multiple projects and clients.
• Provide geotechnical interpretation, analysis and advice in a variety of standard and non-standard geotechnical engineering studies.
• Design soil structures like Tailing Dams, Soil Improvement, Settlements of reclamations
• Design structures with a strong geotechnical part like Quay Wall, Retaining Walls, Tailing Dams
• Advice to Structural engineers for pile design, basement structures, bearing capacities and settlements, soil pressures.
• Advice on required geotechnical campaign and soil testing.
• Control of performed works.
• Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures

3.requirements

In a fast-paced engineering consultancy environment, applicants will have demonstrable technical excellence.

The key requirements are:

• A Master’s degree or PhD in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• Have a feeling for the geotechnical practice and markets in Belgium
• Have excellent written and verbal skills in Dutch, English and French. Knowledge of any other language would be an asset
• Strive for customer satisfaction and delivery excellence
• Have open and respectful attitude towards others and ability to communicate across different audiences
• Willing to travel regularly in Belgium and occasionally abroad
