Job Description:

We’re looking for a DATA SCIENTIST to join our Advanced Analytics and Insights (AAI)  team at MBPS. In this role, you are expected to develop and implement analytics enabled solutions to improve business process and generate relevant and actionable insights based on iterative data analysis, translate data-driven output into business language, and to make appropriate recommendations to respective business stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements analytics enabled solutions to improve business process, to generate insights, support business goals and strategy development.
  •  Owns and delivers complete projects of moderate scope and manages assigned tasks on more complex projects.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope / complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
  • Ability to generate relevant, actionable insights based on iterative data analysis, translate data-driven output into business language, and to make appropriate recommendations to respective business stakeholders
  • Provides analysis on datasets of significant complexity. (may require guidance from senior team members) Quickly able to develop enough business insight to connect data sources across multiple diverse and complicated systems.
  • Communicates results of cases of moderate complexity to business partners and recommends solutions to more senior data scientists.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering; or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience: At least two years of relevant experience
  • Hybrid Work Arrangement: Amenability and readiness to work onsite and from home anytime (dependent on business need AND/OR current external environment/situation - 3x a week onsite and 2x a week work from home).

Minimum Skills to Hire/Must Haves:

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering; or Bachelor’s degree with equivalent technical experience.
  • Generally, a minimum of 2 years of applicable experience. Advanced knowledge of programming languages and concepts (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R (different modules) or Python). 
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of basic and advanced statistical tests, distributions, maximum likelihood estimators, statistical modelling techniques (regression, cluster / factor / principle components, decision tree, survival analysis, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of different techniques and knowledge of machine learning algorithms.
  • Basic knowledge of AI toolkits.
  • Advanced knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, open source data visualization libraries - ggplot and d3.js
  • Advanced knowledge of common database querying languages such as SQL.
  • Capability of applying a systematic, structured approach to explore / navigate / mine massive amount of data, structured or un-structured, to uncover hidden patterns / insights.
  • Strong working knowledge of relational database models (e.g. data vaulting techniques, rules tables).
