EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

 

The Head of Business Development and Growth will be responsible for driving the growth of Severn Trent Services by identifying opportunities for expansion and spearheading strategic initiatives. The role will work in partnership with the established P&L businesses in the STS portfolio, fostering a culture of collaboration and teamwork to drive collective success for our existing and new service areas.

 

This role requires a creative, strategic thinker with strong business acumen, exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record in driving business development.  

The other key accountabilities of the role are:

 

Business Development - Strategic Planning and Execution
 

  • Driving strategic thinking and insight development, lead and oversee execution of STS business development strategy and our growth opportunities, including associated business and operating models for STS.
     
  • Set out key deliverables and timelines and secure buy-in from senior stakeholders.
     
  • Work in partnership with the established P&L businesses to identify and assess growth options that deliver our strategy whilst meeting customer needs. Collaborate closely with cross functional teams to align strategic initiatives and ensure seamless execution.
     
  • Develop rigorous business cases that underpin investment in our strategy, managing quantitative and qualitative information accordingly.

 

Partnerships and Alliances
 

  • Develop and nurture strategic relationships with potential and existing clients, partners and stakeholders to drive business growth.

 

  • Identify and secure opportunities for STS such as external partnerships, alliances, frameworks, acquisitions and other innovation opportunities.

 

Market Research and Competitive Intelligence
 

  • Keep pace with external market development and direction, identifying key growth areas, market trends and competitive landscapes to inform strategic direction and business development decisions.
     

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

 

To succeed in this role, you’ll have excellent leadership skills to successfully create, inspire, and lead. You’ll also have knowledge of water and wastewater operations and/or experience within the water sector or other utilities sector.
 

You’ll have a proven track record of identifying new ideas, opportunities and ways of thinking and making them a reality. You’ll have strong stakeholder management, and ability to effectively support and influence strategic decision making at a senior level.

 

Additionally, you’ll have strong financial acumen to determine where to invest resources and have experience in Business Development, Contractual and Tender and to originate, execute and deliver growth projects. It would also be desirable if you have a network of contracts across the environmental sector and/or other relevant sectors such as Waste or Energy sectors.

 

As travel is required, you’ll also need to hold a full U.K driving license.
