Job description

Summary
Our client is currently looking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of WebSmart PHP Programmer. This person will perform new development, customer development and enhancements to our web-enabled cloud Student Information system and Learning Management system.

Who is our client?
Our client is a 20-year provider of Student Management Cloud computing services to post-secondary career and technical education schools. They are a part of a family of educational service providers. The company has worldwide users of their services.

Job Description
This position will be responsible for maintaining and improving our cloud program and will assist in customer customizations. The individual best suited for this position is someone who can learn the specifics or has experience using the WebSmart IDE. This job requires extensive knowledge of PHP server-side programming using accessing the IBM DB2 database environment. Knowledge of IBMi programming and the IBMi iSeries operating system is
required. Experience with RPG and CL programming is a plus. The Programmer should have basic knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.

Duties
The goal for this position is to provide support and a vision for improving client product’s position in the marketplace by creating effective, reliable and visually appealing interactions for their customers.

Responsibilites:
  • Use PHP within the WebSmart IDE to access, update and delete data from the DB2 database.
  • Perform updates to existing code to make functionality better and more visually appealing.
  • Troubleshoot any code issues as they arise.
  • Respond to help-desk tickets in a timely manner when assigned.
  • Work with the Operations Supervisor and the CEO on project initiatives.
  • Work with the Operations Supervisor to check the progress of active projects and customer issues.
  • Update system settings using Telnet.

    • Skills & Requirements:
  • High proficiency with the PHP programming language.
  • Experience with or ability to learn the WebSmart IDE by watching training videos.
  • Experience with browser-side HTML and JavaScript.
  • Experience with IBM DB2 SQL.
  • A high desire to learn and an enthusiastic attitude towards supporting customers and making improvements to benefit them.
  • A work ethic that can be trusted to work with little supervision to the benefit of our customers and your teammates.
  • A team member who is open to discussion and recommendations from fellow team members.
