Your missions

Summary:

Are you up for challenging, physically demanding work that is vital to the APSCA's life-saving mission?

The ASPCA’s Animal Relocation team is responsible for transporting more than 35,000 dogs and cats each year. Using both land and air transportation, the ASPCA partners with “source” shelters in areas with high homeless pet populations and transports animals to “destination” shelters in communities where adoptable animals are in high demand.

This lifesaving work is only possible with the highest standards for animal care and the right tools and equipment in place. We are seeking temporary, part-time Animal Relocation Vehicle, Crate & Inventory Assistants, a contracted position hired through The Forum Group, to inventory and prepare flight crates and supplies prior to transport, deconstruct and clean animal crates following a transport, and prepare the crates for shipment to be used in future transports.

This is tough, physically strenuous work. It’s also crucial to the success of our program – properly sanitized crates, and a well-managed inventory of readily accessible supplies, contribute to the health of the animals on transport and ensure we can maximize the number of animals relocated and save more lives.

This is a temporary position and the person selected will be employed through a third-party staffing agency.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include:

Crate Deconstruction, Sanitation, & Inventory Management (80%)

  • Load disassembled crates onto pallets; label and wrap in preparation for shipment (Boston)
  • Receive crates on pallets; unpack and return crates to inventory (Dallas)
  • Paint crates with identifying information
  • Represent the ASPCA in a professional manner at all times when communicating with shelter staff and the general public, serving as an ambassador for our mission-driven work

Inventory (10%)

  • Organize and inventory crates pre and post flight
  • Organize and inventory flight and ground transport supplies
  • Record inventory accurately and timely in Airtable database
  • Communicate replacement supply needs to management
  • Communicate challenges with inventory clearly and timely to management, in order to help save more lives

Vehicle Maintenance (10%)

  • Complete routine maintenance checklist (e.g. check coolant and oil levels) for vehicles
  • Complete all necessary forms for vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as any required logs (pre/post-transport reports, trip logs, etc.) to inform managers about needed maintenance and repairs
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas of the vehicle in accordance with ASPCA Standard Operating Procedures
  • Provide accurate and responsible oversight of fleet card and corresponding receipts
  • Use iPad and iPhone for capturing data and communicating with managers
