Legal Library Coordinator (Umatilla)

This position is located onsite at the Two Ric Correctional Institution in Umatilla, Oregon.

About the Job:

Your Role:

As a legal library coordinator, you will supervise adults in custody accessing legal resources, coordinate legal calls, provide customer service and support for technical issues, and facilitate library services.

You will schedule legal calls and visits in accordance with relevant laws and policies and collaborate with security staff to coordinate the adult in custody’s availability. Your work will require working with a wide variety of stakeholders including adults in custody, legal counsel, and institution staff.

You will be part of a team conducting this work at facilities throughout the state. Your team will provide one another resources, support, and coverage when necessary.

The best person for this job has good prioritization skills, integrity, and strong boundaries. They are excited about an opportunity to serve adults in custody looking to learn more and navigate the legal system while maintaining the security and policies of the institution.

This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of experience involving coordination or direction of a clerical support function.


Preference will be given to applicants with library training or experience.

Courses or training in Office Occupations or Office Technology may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience.

Working Conditions:

Working inside of a secure facility including daily contact with adults in custody. May provide coverage at other intuitions as necessary.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position. However, having a felony record does not exclusively restrict you from being considered as an applicant. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
