Senior Commercial Auto Underwriter

We're seeking a Senior Commercial Auto Underwriter to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Transportation and operating within established guidelines and authority between MGU and contracted carriers, the Commercial Transportation Underwriter evaluates risk and pricing for endorsements, renewals, and new business. They review quotes before issuance, make marketing calls to brokers and agents as necessary, and must exhibit creativity, multitasking ability, and dedication to division goals and culture.

Your Impact:

• Assess and price endorsements, renewals, and new business according to guidelines and authority as outlined in the underwriting manual and as assigned by their manager. Lines of business to underwrite include general liability, auto liability (incl. HNO), physical damage, umbrella/excess, property, crime, motor truck cargo, contingent auto and cargo
• Provide accurate documentation in the file and/or in electronic notes of underwriting thought process
• Order/review inspection reports to assess risk quality and to confirm exposure base accuracy, as assigned by manager
• Actively manage assigned book of business. Responsible for achieving company renewal retention ratio goal and amount of new business written monthly in addition to company profitability goals
• Actively manage relationships with assigned brokers and agents
• Ensure that information available from internal and external resources is properly integrated into underwriting decision making
• Ensure that referral guidelines are properly followed regarding all lines of business underwritten
• Provides training and mentoring for other Transportation team members when required

Successful Candidate Will Have:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience as a Commercial Transportation Underwriter in a multi-state and multi-line commercial insurance environment required
• Strong technical P&C underwriting knowledge and skills, specifically focused on commercial auto and long-haul trucking
• Advanced knowledge of ISO commercial class codes and CLM rules, forms, rating and regulatory requirements
• Very strong knowledge of underwriting and pricing principles and the ability to use this knowledge to make underwriting and pricing decisions based on program criteria and strategy
• Results-oriented, self-motivated problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

At One80 Intermediaries, base pay is one part of our total compensation package, which also includes a comprehensive suite of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement savings. The total compensation for a position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. The expected base annual pay range for this position is between $80,552 - $120,000 plus discretionary bonus.
