About The Role

Sellers Dorsey is seeking an ETL Developer to report to our Director of Data and Security. In this role, you will build ETL pipelines to ingest healthcare data from heterogeneous sources into our system. You should have excellent business and communication skills and be able to work with business owners to understand their data requirements and help them make data-related decisions using your ETL knowledge and experience. You will also help build efficient and stable data pipelines which can be easily maintained in the future, and should have expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities/Duties



  • Design and Development:
  • Designing ETL Processes: Design the ETL process according to business requirements, ensuring efficient data flow from source to destination. This includes selecting the right tools and methodologies for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
  • Developing ETL Pipelines: Code and configure the pipelines that automate data movement and transformation. This involves writing scripts or using ETL tools like Azure Data Factory.
  • Data Management and Quality:
  • Ensuring Data Quality: Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and integrity throughout the ETL process. This includes data validation, cleansing, deduplication, and error handling to ensure reliable and usable data.
  • Data Modeling: Participate in data modeling, designing the data structures and schema in the data warehouse to optimize query performance and align with business needs.
  • Optimization and Maintenance:
  • Performance Tuning: Responsible for optimizing ETL processes for speed and efficiency, addressing bottlenecks, and ensuring the ETL system can handle the volume, velocity, and variety of data.
  • Maintenance and Updates: Maintaining the ETL system involves monitoring its performance, updating ETL scripts and workflows as business requirements change, and ensuring the system scales with data growth.
  • Collaboration and Support:
  • Collaborating with Stakeholders: ETL Developers work closely with business analysts, data scientists, and IT teams to understand data requirements and deliver the data infrastructure that supports business goals.
  • Providing Technical Support: Technical support for ETL systems, troubleshooting issues and ensuring the continuous availability and reliability of data flows.
  • Maintain necessary documentation for HITRUST/SOC 2 compliance in coordination with IT department.
  • Ensure a process exists for AMA royalties’ documentation and management.
  • Assist in overseeing firm-wide data assets and subscriptions.
  • Participate in new client kick-off meetings to evaluate and meet client servicing data needs.
  • Manage database access across various user groups (internal and external to the Firm)
  • Work with client servicing teams to establish new approaches such as: data collection, SQL processing, internal Power BI interfaces/connections, use of data studio, etc.
  • Continuous Learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of data engineering/data warehousing experience with healthcare Data required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data (including claims) required.
  • Background and working knowledge of HEDIS is required.
  • Certifications in Azure.
  • Knowledge of at least one ETL tool, Azure Data Factory preferred (SSIS, Informatica, Talend, etc.).
  • Experience in a HITRUST/HIPAA environment a plus.
  • Experience with PowerBI and/or Tableau required.
  • Python, SQL, NoSQL, Big Data skills required.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range for candidates is $95,800/year in our lowest geographic market range to up to $105,400/year in our highest geographic market range. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, the candidate’s education, and the candidate’s market location. Typically, candidates are not hired near the top of the range and compensation decisions are made based upon Sellers Dorsey’s Total Compensation Policies & Guidelines. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in our annual Corporate Incentive Plan (CIP) that can range to up to 7% of annual salary.

Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, the successful candidate (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, and vision and for insurance plans offering short term disability, long term disability, and basic life. Employees are also able to enroll in Sellers Dorsey’s 401k plan provided they meet plan requirements. Sellers Dorsey offers a Flexible Time Off that allows employees to use what they need. Additionally, we offer 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, paid time off for qualifying medical leave, and up to 12 weeks of combined paid parental and bonding leave. The foregoing benefits and paid time off, including an employee’s eligibility therefore, will be controlled by applicable plan documents and Sellers Dorsey policy.
