Position Title: Director of School Based Health Training      

Reports To:   Vice President, Family and Community Education

Employee Status: Full Time, Exempt                                          

Location/Office: NYC (CAI has a hybrid work schedule of working 2 days in the office and 3 days remote.)  

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of School Based Health Training is responsible for coordinating and managing the design and delivery of CAI’s School-Based Health Training Programs. The SBHC programs focus on building the capacity of NYC school-based health center staff to provide sexual and reproductive health, mental health education and counseling services to students. The initiative is designed to expand adolescents’ access to comprehensive and high-quality health services and, ultimately, improve their sexual and reproductive health outcomes. Responsibilities include coordination of all project activities, as well as providing leadership and expertise in the planning, delivery, coordination and evaluation of remote, web-based, and face-to-face capacity-building training contractors and other stakeholders.

 

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):

  • Provide day-to-day coordination for all activities associated with administering and managing the SBHC project 
  • Deliver CAI training courses utilizing adult learning principles
  • Contribute to curriculum writing and training material development 
  • Stay abreast of current literature and research related to adolescent health, sexual & reproductive health
  • Utilize evidence-based knowledge and best practices to inform curricula, training materials and other resources
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of project-related meetings, training programs, calls and webinars
  • Manage the contracted consultants and ensuring the work is completed in a high-quality timely fashion. 
  • Provide leadership in expanding CAI’s training and technical assistance related to adolescent sexual health and adolescent mental health
  • Provide oversight/supervision of staff on the project, coordinate with CAI resource staff
  • Regular travel to sites within NYC
  • Other duties as necessary/assigned

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health or similarly related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Expertise in sexual and reproductive health services
  • Expertise in social determinants of health and sexual & reproductive justice issues
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience developing and providing training to adults in a public health arena
  • Strong training and presentation skills
  • Adaptability and flexibility in approach to training techniques
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to multi-task/manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

While performing the Director of School Based Health Training’s responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear. This position requires the employee to be on-site at a CAI office. The employee is often required to sit and work at a desk for prolonged periods of time and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times, speak clearly so listeners can understand and understand the speech of another person. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision as well as the ability to see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $90,000. CAI offers a generous benefits package including:
