Junior Technical Business Analyst
This is an exciting opportunity working within our progressive data & analytics team, helping Elsevier’s global marketing community deliver their digital marketing programmes. We have a clear vision for enabling data self-service and collaboration, driving innovation through our modern technology infrastructure and toolbox.
You will work within our data & analytics engineering team, acting as a bridge into the business – working closely with a our marketing stakeholders to understand their needs, goals and objectives to support a range of projects and system development opportunities.
This is a multi-faceted role, and will require a combination of analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to drive business success.
Requirements analysis and definition – work with business partners to elicit high quality requirements, capture business needs, and identify opportunities for business led delivery
Refine the product backlog – analyse backlog items to define user stories with the relevant details that aid better delivery increments, squad effort estimation and business prioritisation
Manage and define the data release process and lifecycle – work with developers to define release cycle process and governance, produce process documentation, and take a pro-active approach to ensure process is followed
Create high quality documentation at pace – prototypes, high-level designs, and succinct depictions of data flows and data pipelines
Be a trusted advisor – develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels through effective communication and efficient, quality execution on projects
Identify solution and technical interdependencies and commonalities to enhance standards and patterns across projects/solutions
Essential Skills & Experience:
A proven technical business analysis skillset – process mapping, requirements elicitation and workshop facilitation, including tools that facilitate the process e.g MS Office, Draw.io, Confluence
Agile – use of Jira for requirements and delivery management as part of a Scrum team
Data models – entity relationships, data cataloguing, data dictionary and data warehousing concepts
A natural relationship-builder with strong interpersonal skills; advanced communication (verbal and written) and customer services skills, with an ability to engage with senior management
Problem-solver, with experience in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex issues, and identify risks/impacts that facilitate management decision-making
Self-motivated and proactive, and able to work with minimal guidance
