Director of Revenue

The Director of Revenue will be instrumental in overseeing the sales and business development cycle, with a particular focus on enhancing our marketplace dynamics and SaaS offerings. Reporting directly to the President, this role collaborates closely with leadership to pinpoint sales opportunities and spearhead process enhancements across the business development, sales funnel, and marketing teams. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in marketplace and SaaS environments, offering thought leadership and translating strategic insights and data into actionable outcomes.

As a key cross-functional collaborator, the Director of Revenue will work alongside the highest levels of our organization to ensure synergy across all departments. This role demands a proactive leader, skilled in navigating complex sales processes and closing deals, thereby driving substantial top-line revenue growth.

Furthermore, the Director of Revenue will craft and execute a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy, leveraging their expertise to foster innovation within our marketplace and SaaS platforms. This individual should operate with a high degree of autonomy, adapt quickly, and be eager to utilize the resources of our fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include aligning with Executive, Engineering, and Business Development teams to refine our brand identity, define target audiences, enhance copywriting, support new partnerships, and launch high-level marketing campaigns. These initiatives will not only drive new business but also strategically expand the company ecosystem as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Sales Strategy Development:
    • Craft and implement comprehensive sales strategies that align with the company’s overall business objectives.
    • Regularly assess and adapt strategies based on market trends, competitor analysis, and company performance.
  • Revenue Growth:
    • Drive consistent revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities, expanding market penetration, and enhancing sales processes.
    • Ensure revenue targets are met or exceeded across all sales channels.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor the sales, marketing, and business development teams to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Set clear team goals and performance metrics, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Marketplace and SaaS Platform Management:
    • Oversee operations specific to marketplace and SaaS platforms, ensuring optimal performance, customer satisfaction, and alignment with business goals.
    • Utilize analytics to monitor platform performance and implement enhancements where necessary.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Executive, Engineering, Product, and Customer Service teams to ensure cohesive efforts across the company.
    • Collaborate on cross-departmental initiatives that contribute to the overall growth and efficiency of the business.
  • Marketing and Brand Strategy:
    • Oversee the development and execution of marketing strategies that effectively convey the brand’s message and drive sales.
    • Ensure that marketing initiatives are data-driven and aligned with the sales goals of the organization.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners, ensuring their needs are met and that they are satisfied with the services provided.
    • Oversee the customer lifecycle process to enhance customer engagement and retention.
  • Budget Management:
    • Manage the budget for the sales, marketing, and business development departments, ensuring resources are used efficiently and effectively.
    • Provide regular financial reports to the executive team and stakeholders regarding sales performance and forecasting.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure all sales and marketing activities comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those specific to the cannabis industry.
    • Stay informed about changes in regulations and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Alliances:
    • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships that enhance business opportunities and market presence.
    • Negotiate partnership terms and collaborate on joint marketing initiatives.
  • Innovation and Technology Utilization:
    • Champion the use of innovative technologies and sales automation tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness within the sales and marketing teams.
    • Encourage a culture of innovation that keeps the company at the forefront of the industry.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
    • Utilize CRM and data analytics tools to track sales performance, market trends, and customer insights.
    • Regularly report key metrics and insights to the board and other stakeholders to inform business decisions.


Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced Degree in Business, Marketing, or Related Field: MBA preferred, or equivalent experience in Business Administration or Strategic Marketing.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales leadership roles, with a proven track record in scaling sales operations and achieving revenue targets.
  • Demonstrated success in managing sales and growth for digital marketplace platforms and SaaS products, with a deep understanding of the unique dynamics of these environments.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing comprehensive sales strategies and business development plans that align with company goals.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with C-level executives. Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide teams towards achieving strategic objectives.
  • Strong understanding of brand development, digital marketing strategies, and market research techniques. Experience in overseeing marketing campaigns that drive engagement and sales.
  • Proficiency in using data analytics to inform strategies and improve sales processes. Familiarity with CRM and data analysis tools.
  • Ability to articulate vision and strategy effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and resolve issues that may impede progress.
  • Adept at optimizing operations to maximize efficiency and profitability. Experience in process re-engineering and organizational change.
  • Up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the cannabis industry, and a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamically changing environment and capable of adjusting strategies and goals as business needs evolve.
