Technical lead, Platform Security Engineering

Blizzard Entertainment has an opening for a versatile and enthusiastic Technical Lead to join our Platform Security Engineering team on Battle.net.

We build and operate a best-in-class payment and account security platform, processing billions of dollars and trillions of player interactions annually. As an engineering manager with this organization, you'll have a critical role in shaping our technical and team destiny!

This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities:  

• Manage a dedicated team of engineers in building a variety of scalable security focused services  

• Work with Program Management to define and deliver on our roadmaps, balancing customer and business needs with technical complexity  

• Operate and optimize our live systems, ensuing high availability, operability and agility  

• Improve the processes and tools by which your team builds, validates, and deploys services to development and production environments  

• Support, and guide the careers of a diverse group of passionate engineers  

• Lead development of critical projects from the frontlines, actively contributing to diverse codebases to meet objectives  

• Coordinate with internal and external development teams, create relationships and lead on shared technical initiatives  

Requirements:  

• 1+ years of engineering management experience,  

• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience  

• Passion for leadership and advancing the team and careers of your engineers  

• Advanced understanding of Java (or other compiled languages) and related open-source technology landscape  

• Extensive experience with API design, full-stack engineering, and web application development  

• Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data stores and high scale asynchronous architectures  

• Track record of creating reliable, high scale distributed systems and client/server architectures  

• Knowledge of infrastructure and server security best practices  

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical personnel  

Pluses:  

• AWS/GCP/Azure or other public cloud experience  

• Experience with virtualization and containerization technologies and infrastructure  

• Experience or interest in commerce, anti-fraud, or account security  

• A passion for video games and technology
