Overview:

The Geospatial Analyst will use both natural resource and geospatial skills to analyze complex resource management challenges providing the team and management with recommendations.

 

Work Environment:

  • Location is flexible:  NV5 Geospatial Headquarters, Regional offices, or work from home considered
  • Travel up to 15% of the time

Responsibilities:
  • Automation, using scripting languages including Python and R, of multi-scale (i.e., ecoregion subsection, forest and bioregional scale) analysis of bioclimatic, vegetation, wildlife and other natural resource data

  • Compile datasets for natural resource data and download corporate data from the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)

  • Develop tabular summaries of information contained in geospatial datasets
  • Validate accuracy of datasets
  • Gather, process, and develop raster surfaces for modeling ecosystem dynamics, disturbance regimes, time-series analysis and other vegetation analytics
  • Create internal ArcGIS Online web maps, story maps and dashboards, as well as public facing interactive web maps
  • Conduct quality control and implement geospatial data management best practices
Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Soils, Geology, Hydrology, Geography, Earth Science or related field*
  • 3+ years’ experience using GIS and related tools**
  • Demonstrated experience using Esri Products including the following:
    • ArcGIS dashboard
    • ArcGIS desktop
    • ArcSDE for Oracle
    • ArcGIS Pro
    • AGOL and associated extensions
    • ArcGIS Server
    • Collector, Navigator and Explorer for ArcGIS
    • PL/SQL Developer
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following scripting languages:
    • R
    • R Studio
    • Python

* Additional experience can be substituted for education

** Additional education can be substituted for years of experience

 

Experience Preferred (in addition to requirements):

  • Masters degree in GIS or related field
  • Experience working with public land management agencies

  • Ability to work in a high-tempo environment
