Imagine Your Impact.

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Psychometrician to join the Assessment Research team at Imagine Learning. The Psychometrician will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and analyzing assessments that measure various instructional constructs in our products accurately and reliably. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of post-graduate school experience, a strong background in psychometrics, statistics, and research methodology, and a passion for advancing the field of psychological measurement. 
 

Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.

 

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $100,758.00 and $130,000.00 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

 

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote from your home office.

 

Travel: You can also expect up to approximately 10% travel, so be sure you have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance and a clean driving record for at least the preceding 39 months.

Envision Your Experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Conduct various analyses, including item response theory (IRT) and classical test theory (CTT), to evaluate the performance of assessments used in Imagine Learning programs. 
  • Conduct analyses to assess the reliability, validity, and fairness of assessments, using techniques such as factor analysis, differential item functioning (DIF), and item response theory. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop new assessments and improve existing ones. 
  • Develop scoring algorithms and procedures to generate meaningful scores and interpret assessment results accurately. 
  • Conduct research to explore emerging trends and methodologies in psychometrics and assessment design and apply findings to improve assessment practices. 
  • Provide expertise and guidance on assessment-related matters to internal stakeholders – including product management teams – involving assessment development and implementation. 
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations effectively to various stakeholders (including other researchers, educators, and leadership) through written reports, presentations, and consultations. 
  • Maintain awareness of ethical considerations, standards, and guidelines in psychometric and educational research. 
  • Stay informed about developments in the field of psychometrics and contribute to ongoing research initiatives. 

 

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

  • Ph.D. in Psychometrics, Educational Measurement, Statistics, or a related field. 
  • 1-3 years of post-graduate school experience in a similar role, preferably within the educational technology or formative assessment industry. 
  • Proven experience in developing and validating assessments utilizing strong knowledge of psychometric principles, including item response theory, classical test theory, and differential item functioning. 
  • Proficiency in statistical software packages such as R, SPSS, or SAS, with expertise in advanced statistical techniques used in psychometric analysis. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines. 
  • Familiarity with relevant professional standards and guidelines in psychometrics, such as the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (AERA, APA, NCME). 
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of psychometrics and psychological measurement, and to diversity, equity, and inclusion in educational assessment practices. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel <10%.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with computer-adaptive testing (CAT) and proficiency in related software platforms (e.g., FlexMIRT). 
  • Experience in working with large-scale assessment programs and large datasets. 
  • Demonstrated record of publications and/or conference presentations.
