Job Type: Full Time, Permanent & Hybrid (4 days in office & 1 day work from home)

About the Opportunity            

The Market Analyst performs and represents rennie’s Intelligence function in Greater Seattle, directly supporting rennie’s expanding US presence. Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable about real estate, this role brings complex data sets to life for internal and external audiences. By collecting and assimilating critical market information and turning them into relevant insights, this role supports rennie in making better decisions and best advising our clients.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Focusing on the Greater Seattle area, this role undertakes in-depth analysis of and content & commentary on the real estate market and economic environment.

  • Interprets and communicates data in a way that yields useful and strategic insights for stakeholders. Generates narratives from within the data and creates compelling data visualizations that skillfully communicate insights and are shared across a range of formats and media (e.g. podcasts, workshops, videos, presentations, reports, documents)

  • Responsible for the preparation and production of regular reports that are shared internally, with clients, and/or with the public 

  • Sources data proactively to complement and build upon rennie-sourced and publicly-available information, and to build rennie’s intelligence data warehouse

  • Accesses, organizes, analyzes, and synthesizes large data sets to create streamlined, digestible and comprehensible information  

  • Fosters positive industry relationships and regularly connects with industry sources and local market research providers 

  • Regularly attends and occasionally speaks at industry conferences and events on behalf of rennie

  • Proactively maintains, enhances, and develops new content, tools, and resources 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by rennie leadership


Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role involving the manipulation, interpretation, and analysis of complex and large third-party and proprietary data sets

  • Undergraduate degree required, postgraduate degree an asset; a major in Economics, Urban Land Economics, or a related degree is strongly preferred

  • A relevant certification or diploma in real estate an asset


Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A strong understanding of resale, pre-sale, and rental real estate market dynamics 

  • Strong familiarity with the Greater Seattle region, its housing market, and the regional economy

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, GIS (QGIS), Adobe InDesign, and Tableau

  • Ability to analyze big data sets and distill takeaways for stakeholder audience 

  • Collaborative, creative, flexible, and innovative team player team player with an ability to work effectively with peers, senior leaders, and key stakeholders 

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills, including the ability to clearly articulate data and what it means for varied audiences (e.g. consumers, developers, realtors, employees) in written forms, informal conversations, and presentations

  • Excellent problem-solving, and analytical skills with good judgment to make timely and sound decisions 

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities and workflow 


Location

This position is based in the Greater Seattle area, working with colleagues throughout Washington, California, and British Columbia. 


The successful candidate will work 4 days per week in the rennie office in Ballard and can choose their work location for 1 day per week. Occasional travel within the region to industry events and to our home office in Vancouver, Canada is also expected.

Salary and Benefits

The typical base salary hiring range for this position is $100,000 to $115,000 USD. The salary offered is based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors including role, level, location, education, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and organizational needs. We also have a discretionary bonus program that supports our employees by recognizing exceptional individual performance and company success.
