The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As the Business Development Manager, Federal Government Civilian Agencies you will be responsible for all aspects business development and growth with US Federal Government Civilian Agencies such as DOE, DHS, Amtrak, and GSA.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Creating, developing, driving and leading business development strategy and activities for 3M with United States Federal Government Civilian Agencies, applicable program offices, leaders and key partners to promote and secure the utilization of 3M solutions
  • Analyzing and understanding the market and associated trends with the Federal Government, political macro trends, funding sources, programs and opportunities to expand and drive the development, adoption, commercialization and use of 3M products and solutions
  • Building 3M divisional relationships to maximize agency engagement as well as solution identification, development, and penetration.
  • Identifying, developing, and executing pipeline of opportunities and engagements to achieve key sales targets and metrics to deliver on annual growth targets
  • Attending and actively participating in relevant trade associations, industry organizations and tradeshows

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience in business development, program management and/or key account management in a private, public or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Ability to obtain and hold DoD / Federal Government Security Clearance
  • Preference toward hiring veteran or individual with federal government experience
  • Direct experience and key senior level relationships with the outlined Federal Government Civilian agencies
  • Veracious continual learner and self-starter with a strong sense of curiosity and the ability to work in an unstructured environment with minimal required direction, including building business plans, strategy, presentations and market analysis
  • Ability to understand technical concepts and solutions and translate them to business requirements and lead business conversations / presentations (internally and externally)
  • Proven experience in executive level and program selling
  • Understanding of federal government acquisition procedures
  • Experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite of products
  • Proven track record of success and accomplishment in chosen endeavors
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization

Work location:

  • Work Your Way Eligible (Employee choice to work remote, on site, or hybrid) but position is located in the Washington DC metro area

Travel: May include up to 50% domestic

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
