About the Opportunity 

 

The Senior Privacy Advisor role sits within VicRoads Privacy team which forms part of VicRoads’ Integrity function within Risk and Compliance. The Privacy team is responsible for ensuring VicRoads compliance with Privacy Laws and obligations and fostering a Privacy-focused culture which includes, but is not limited to; 

  • developing and implementing the VicRoads Privacy Management Plan and Privacy policies 

  • ensuring VicRoads has appropriate internal processes and procedures to support compliance with Privacy obligations 

  • providing notification of privacy breaches and complaints to third parties including notifications to Department of Transport and Planning (DTP), OVIC and/or OIAC 

  • responding to privacy complaints  

  • supporting VicRoads projects and programs with internal Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) processes and assisting with external PIAs, where required 

  • identifying privacy-related risks and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to negate or mitigate those risks 

  • providing training and awareness  

The role also provides additional support to ensure VicRoads compliance with requests for access to personal information including Freedom of Information and other requests. 
 
About you 

 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who can respectfully navigate the complexities of our ongoing relationship with the State and its aligned stakeholders. 
 
Some of the things you would encounter in your day to day would be; 

  • Providing expert privacy advice and support to a range of internal stakeholders. 

  • Process, investigate and respond to privacy queries complaints and potential privacy breaches in collaboration with the relevant business area and identify remediation actions. 

  • Provide notifications and reports to internal and external stakeholders of privacy-related complaints and beaches, including investigative outcomes, risks and controls. Prepare written responses, reports, and other outputs relating to the management of personal information. 

  • Support internal Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) processes and assist project teams undertake external PIAs. 

  • Proactively identify privacy risks and provide mitigation solutions and strategies. Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to implement and monitor outcomes from strategies and controls. 

  • Assist in the development, implementation and ongoing support of policies, processes and systems required to ensure VicRoads meets its privacy obligations. 

  • Work collaboratively to maintain and develop privacy and compliance frameworks and controls in line with VicRoads’ Privacy Management Plan and strategic plans. 

  • Assist with the development Privacy Collection Notices, as required. 

  • Assist with VicRoads obligations to comply with requests for personal information, including Freedom of Information requests and Court Orders, as required.
