In this position, you will play a critical role in scaling and refining a world class accounting organization to service the rapidly growing Sonder business. This is an amazing opportunity to join a quickly developing team and make an immediate impact to the business.
The Opportunity:
Perform monthly accounting close activities, including preparing rent recognition journal entries, account reconciliations of deferred rent and related balance sheet accounts, asset roll forwards and reporting
Build and manage Fixed Assets process for scaling markets as well as new markets
Review all lease contracts and work closely with Financial Operations, Legal, and IT for proper accounting and classification under ASC 842
Partner with internal teams such as Supply Chain, FP&A, Engineering, and Real Estate to develop accounting processes to scale
Support external audit requirements related to specific areas of responsibility
Support Global Fixed Assets Accounting Manager in completing special projects, ad-hoc reporting and analysis requests
Assist in preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements
Who We Look For:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
4+ years professional experience, with at least 2 years of relevant month-end close experience
Public accounting experience combined with commercial real estate, hospitality, or tech industry experience preferred
Strong knowledge of US GAAP, specifically lease accounting (ASC 840 to ASC 842) and internally developed software (SOP 98) guidance
Experience in a high growth, capital heavy, global environment a plus
Previous experience working in a large ERP (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) environment
Advanced Excel knowledge. SQL knowledge (Basic to Intermediate) a plus
Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize and multitask
Strong business acumen, analytical skills, detailed-oriented
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
