Capital B is a startup local and national nonprofit news organization reporting for Black communities across the country. We are looking to hire a dynamic and resourceful interim full-time editor for our Atlanta newsroom to work with a team of four reporters covering issues that impact Atlanta's Black communities.
The interim Atlanta editor should have strong local news judgment and be adept at working with reporters with a range of talents and experience levels, leading with professionalism and empathy. They also should be collaborative, open to sharing ideas and working with our audience teams and other local and national newsrooms.
We’re a news organization driven by on-the-ground, civic, and service journalism, with an eye for accountability and impact. The temporary editor will have the tremendous opportunity to combine their news judgment with the results of Capital B’s community engagement and listening efforts to shape coverage for a unique journalism outlet.
This is a temporary full-time position reporting to Capital B’s managing editor of local.
Duration: August 12 to October 28, 40 hours per week
Rate: $1,900 weekly
Location: Atlanta (In-person preferred, but remote candidates will be considered)
