Role:

Under the direction of the President & CEO or Director of Advocacy, the Advocacy Manager/Senior Advocacy Manager will provide support for Sepsis Alliance’s advocacy and policy initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update sepsisvoices.org, including web content and downloadable materials;
  • Maintain and update actions and other available information on SoftEdge, Sepsis Alliance’s online government relations tool;
  • Assist the Director of Marketing and Communications in developing annual communication calendar/plans for Sepsis Alliance advocacy initiatives and activities, including earned media pitching and story placement;
  • Produce and analyze advocacy impact reports;
  • Assist with identifying, fostering, and managing relationships with partner advocacy organizations to further mutual goals;
  • Provide support to advance identified policies, such as Lulu’s Law, the PASTEUR Act, and related infectious disease, maternal sepsis, and other policies as applicable;
  • With input, identify topics, secure speakers, and oversee logistics for advocacy trainings;
  • Oversee administrative needs for the advocacy pillar, including, but not limited to: creating and distributing meeting agendas and minutes; producing and tracking sign-on letters and letters of support; organizing files in SharePoint; managing correspondence with advocates and advocacy stakeholders;
  • Support the pillar 3 strategic plan objectives by managing key initiatives as assigned;
  • Support fundraising initiatives as requested and identify new funders;
  • Provide report metrics to the development team for funder reporting;
  • Other tasks as directed.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years experience supporting advocacy initiatives in the healthcare, nonprofit, or related field (manager)
  • 5+ years experience supporting advocacy initiatives in the healthcare, nonprofit, or related field (senior manager)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working remote
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interest in and general knowledge of healthcare policy and policymaking as it relates to infectious disease, health equity, data reporting, and public health more broadly
  • Conversant in public health issues and terminology
  • Passion to improve health outcomes and save lives.

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Proficient with databases and data entry, Salesforce preferred
  • Experience with website editing, WordPress preferred
  • Experience managing an advocacy activation platform, Softedge preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently and virtually.

This is a part-time role at approximately 20 hours per week. This is a remote position and candidates from all over are encouraged to apply, though close proximity to Washington, D.C. is preferred.
