Position Summary:  

We are expanding our marketing team! CCOF seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Marketing Content Specialist to create and implement bilingual marketing communications campaigns and content for all CCOF departments and channels. Your integrity and deep passion for our mission to advance organic agriculture for a healthy world should be complimented by experience as a Marketing Content Specialist or similar role, project management skills, social media fluency, and ability to work within multiple collaborative environments on deadlines. You will share our commitment to equity and inclusivity. 

 

This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Marketing Communications Manager. This is a United States-based remote position. 

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

 

  • Support marketing, branding, and community efforts aimed at promoting CCOF services and the organic movement. 
  • Create and edit content for CCOF digital and print channels. 
  • Collaborate with other CCOF departments to create content that achieves their goals. 

 

Specific duties:    

  • Develop and manage small- to mid-level content projects for CCOF’s Certification, Advocacy, Foundation, and Inc departments.  
  • Build out project plans, including mapping milestones and distilling information into a project overview; providing support, feedback and follow-up; and ensuring that project goals are executed with excellence and on time. 
  • Research, write, edit, proofread, and provide overall editorial support of content for CCOF publications, press releases, blog and certification news, website content, standalone promotional emails, flyers, brochures, promotional materials, the annual report, and additional projects with internal organizational departments. 
  • Develop creative marketing concepts with the Assistant Director of Marketing and the Marketing Communications Manager including campaign ideas, themes, tone, and key copy lines. 
  • Provide marketing expertise, data, and creative ideas to provide solutions. Apply consultative methodology to each interaction and project.  
  • Manage content of CCOF’s recurring publications, such as the newspaper and annual report, by developing and detailing themes in collaboration with other departments, writing, editing, and proofreading articles; contracting feature article writers; providing internal writing support to article authors outside the marketing department. 
  • Support production of e‐newsletter and stand‐alone emails. Require copywriting, coordinating internal submissions from other departments, compiling and editing copy. 
  • Edit and write content for CCOF digital and print channels as necessary.  
  • Stay informed on social media trends and best practices for all CCOF’s active platforms to compose effective messaging that drives action.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the Marketing Communications Manager. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with at least 5 years of professional experience as a Marketing Content Specialist or similar role. 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish to write, edit, and proofread written content of professional quality and free of errors. 
  • Project management skills. At least 2 years of experience planning, managing, executing and finishing small-mid level Marketing and Communications projects. Delegate and prioritize tasks, manage resources, analyze problems, report progress, and analyze project performance. 
  • Social media fluency. Familiar with current social media landscape.   
  • Highly organized, motivated, and detail oriented. Able to produce a large volume of high-quality work within assigned deadlines. Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Notices and fixes errors that others might overlook. Has a track record of leaving things better than they found them. 
  • Ability to work within multiple collaborative environments. Brings a collaborative, problem-solving approach to work, remains receptive to feedback, and communicates ideas with respect and professionalism. Versatility in adapting to diverse workgroups, communication styles, and professional interactions. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

 

  • Agricultural and/or food retail sector knowledge, background and/or experience.  
  • Training in ethical storytelling techniques. 
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing social media content professionally. 
  • Knowledge and familiarity with DEI principles. Willing to talk about race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, ability, or gender and the ways our identities shape our experience at work. Understands the historical context for inequities and its present-day implications. 
  • Experience working remotely with in-office and remote teams.     
  • At least 1 year of experience creating copy for a recurring publication. 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities or Key Relationships: 

 

  • This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities. 

 

Physical and Travel Requirements: 

 

  • Ability to travel domestically (about 7 days a year) 
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Compensation: CCOF takes pride in offering competitive pay and benefits such as superb health plans, 401(k) program, and generous sick/personal and vacation time. The Marketing Content Specialist’s starting salary range will be $64,000 – $68,000 and will depend on qualifications and experience.
