Description
Purpose and Scope of Position

The Compliance Coordinator position will research and evaluate state insurance laws regarding new and existing product filings as they pertain to surplus lines property/casualty insurance products.

Communicate with various state regulatory agencies as well as insurance clients. This position is also responsible for providing support, and guidance to ensure WDIS operations are conducted in compliance with ethical business practices, WDIS and carrier policies and legal/regulatory requirements. Advise business units and protect WDIS’s interests in all corporate, legal and regulatory matters.

 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assisting in managing carrier compliance investigations including recording notifications, proper internal and external communication, and tracking to ensure timely responses.
  • Identify compliance trends through monitoring internal and external reporting and assisting in the development of compliance guidelines and tools.
  • Coordinate, record, maintain and monitor compliance records, reports and analysis ensuring that all data records are complete, accurate to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits; and working with other departments on designated compliance matters.
  • Assist with administering and improving WDIS’s compliance program.
  • Assist with responses to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards of conduct. Assist with proper reporting of violations or potential violations to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate and/or required.
  • Assist with statutory and regulatory monitoring and communication of updates throughout WDIS and its downstream agents.
  • Assist with the development and oversight of an effective compliance training program for WDIS and its downstream agents, which include appropriate training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees.
  • Assist with monitoring and coordinating the compliance activities of all business units, which includes tracking and reporting of key compliance metrics.
  • Assist with identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk.
  • Assist with development and implementation of corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues.
 

 

  • All other duties as assigned, such as, but not limited to:
    • Independently resolve complex issues, conducting research and making informed decisions
    • Perform surplus lines filings for all states within the WDIS footprint.
    • Assist with various accounting responsibilities, receivables, payables, reconciliation, and month end reporting.
    • Drafting policy forms
    • Preparing and filing policy forms with the state insurance departments
    • Researching Department of Insurance Bulletins, laws, and regulations
    • Developing and maintain product filing content management for business areas.

Responding to objections raised to filings which may involve revisions of policy forms and/or drafting of amendments.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (i.e. education, certifications, years of experience, etc…)
  • Bachelor`s degree in a quantitative subject (example: Mathematics, Finance, Economics) is preferred, but overall experience will be taken into consideration and supplant a formal degree.
  • Certified Risk and Compliance Management Professional in Insurance and Reinsurance CRCMP Certification preferred.
  • 3+ years property and casualty insurance industry experience with personal lines, commercial lines and/or specialty expertise in applicable business roles including claims, sales, underwriting or product preferred.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of insurance principles and concepts required.
  • Analytical/problem solving and research skills.
  • Effective communication skills for writing reports & proposals.
  • Ability to work independently and lead others during projects is a must.
