Position Overview:
Reporting to the VP, Systems, the Manager, MFRE Engineering is responsible for the design,
engineering, and construction support for Aspen’s multi-family residential (MFRE) business
segment. The ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the
origination, host facility interaction, project development, and construction of solar and storage
power plants on multi-family facilities throughout Aspen’s geographic footprint is critical to the
success of the position. The MFRE Engineer Manager will oversee project design development
from initial, conceptual designs through to construction closeout. Strong technical, problem
solving, and interpersonal skills are required, with a demonstrated track record of similar work.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the design and engineering processes of the Aspen MFRE
business segment.
Coordinate internal and external designers, engineers, vendors, and consultants to
deliver preliminary and issue for bid design packages.
Manage and oversee the interconnection application and closeout process for each
MFRE project with the local utility.
Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders for inventive and third-party billing
applications, as required for project execution.
Provide daily leadership to junior engineers.
Deliver mentorship and teaching opportunities to Aspen’s Systems group (design and
engineering) for MFRE and non-MFRE market-segment related topics.
Assist in maintaining existing database of designs and processes; create enhancements
as business needs dictate.
In partnership with Aspen’s department heads, closely review and provide input for new
technological and product advancements.
Work with other Aspen departments to provide consistency and clarity around specific
offerings and continuous improvement in financial closing process.
Monitor and track performance metrics of built and acquired systems.
Serve as a key informer on trade partners, supply deals, and strategic alliances.
Drive process improvement by coordinating feedback loop of performance into design
engineering.
Create, manage, and track technical improvement measures and Key Performance
Indicators.
Establish monthly and quarterly deliverable updates for review with senior management.
Provide constructive feedback to senior management as well as other department
heads.
Assess and map progress of technical documentation management for financial entity
support.
Qualifications:
Must be passionate about the renewable energy industry, hardworking and thrive in the fast
pace of a rapidly growing, corporate environment. In addition, must possess:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or similar focus.
8 years of engineering, design, and/or construction leadership experience.
Experience within a leading renewable energy, general contracting, or commercial
construction firm.
Demonstrated design ability with computer-based drafting methods to produce
constructable designs.
Experience receiving and answering construction-based field issues (RFIs, submittals) in
a timely and productive manner.
Ability to produce solar energy model analyses and understand critical inputs thereto.
Strong history of technical management and control with a continuous innovation
mindset.
Strong organizational and scheduling skills to manage the activities of internal and
external resources.
Ability to interface smoothly at senior management levels internally and externally.
