The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a dedicated Business Strategy and Planning I to participate in Hiring Our Heroes (HOH) Fellowship Cohort 24-3 with USAA. This is a Hybrid opportunity for our San Antonio, TX location only.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

We are looking for a Business Strategy and Planning professional to support executive management in identifying, developing, and presenting specific business strategies across CoSA functional areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate their proficient knowledge of USAA, industry trends, business development, and financial planning to conduct strategic analyses of business needs and environmental trends. This role involves facilitating business strategy reviews to evaluate progress in achieving strategic goals.
Job Requirements
- Supports the development and coordination of CoSA strategy.
- Works with CoSA executive management to establish strategic framework that enables short and long-term business goals and objectives.
- Identifies and implements specific processes to manage the business strategic and operational planning process.
- Maintains and aligns business process and frameworks to USAA enterprise strategy process and framework.
- Maintains CoSA specific strategic and operational roadmaps to ensure results are met (current and future).
- Collaborates with change partners to define change management plans and strategies for large, complex business specific initiatives that often impact the organization and/or enterprise.
- Performs primary and secondary research and analysis and synthesizes findings on market, industry, consumer and competitor trends.
- Supports CoSA with the design and coordination of the annual strategic planning and operational planning processes.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
Minimum Experience
- Bachelor's degree; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 4 years of directly related business planning consultation with experience giving to the development of business strategy short-term and/or long-term goals.
- Proficient level of effective executive level communications and facilitation experience.
- Experience in Project Management.
- Proven discernment in financial services or related industry, and a proven track record to balance critical thinking with practical implementation skills.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, an ability to translate raw information into actionable strategies and initiatives.
Preferred Experience
- Current participant in the Hiring Our Heroes Fellowship Programs 24-3 Cohort, or the Non Direct HOH Fellowship 24-2
- Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
- Expert level skills with Microsoft office; PowerPoint, Word, Excel
- Comfortable working with large sets of data to show trends and tell a story
- Excellent interpersonal communications and effective writing, organizational and analytical skills.
- Process improvement experience preferred
- PMP preferred (Not Required)

Compensation
Hiring Our Heroes fellows are paid by the HOH program.
If selected for a full-time role, USAA has an efficient process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain driven. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. A geographic differential and/or shift premium may be applicable for this role, depending upon where and when this job is performed. The salary range for this position is: $99,160 - $189,530.
