Job Summary

The Network Engineer position is responsible for all aspects of network design, implementation, operation, and support, combining tactical response with strategic consideration. This role requires advanced technical expertise to maintain the stability and security of the company’s LAN/WAN environment and involves working closely with business leadership to meet client requirements.

 This role entails comprehensive responsibility for network design, implementation, operation, and support. The ideal candidate will balance tactical response and strategic planning to ensure a secure and stable network environment.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide advanced technical expertise to maintain the stability and security of the company’s LAN/WAN environment.
• Collaborate with business leadership to understand and meet client requirements.
• Design, configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment and related services.
• Identify, diagnose, and resolve all network-related problems.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks.
• Independently manage large enterprise projects to deliver value on time and within budget.
• Provide technical oversight and design of hosted data center configurations and footprints.
• Work with leadership to manage support and maintenance contracts.
• Establish and maintain relationships with key network and data center vendors.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Advanced hands-on skills in implementing and administrating enterprise network devices, including:
  • Firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto)
  • Load Balancers
  • Traffic Shapers and QoS
  • Cisco Network Switches, Routers, and VPNs
  • Wireless Access Points
  • SD WAN - Silverpeak
  • Cumulus Switches
• Thorough understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, including cost, benefit, and price considerations.
• In-depth knowledge of hosted data center strategies and operational considerations.
• Strong grasp of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking.
• Advanced experience with TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, and SMTP.
• Proficient with common network monitoring utilities.
• Expertise in network security across all OSI model layers.
• Advanced diagnostics and performance analysis of distributed systems related to networking.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical certifications.
• Minimum of 5 years in network operations and engineering.
