About the role

Reporting to Avalere’s VP of Data & Analytics, the Director, Data Strategy will lead, develop, and implement data and analytics strategy for clients’ marketing efforts. The Director, Data Strategy will serve as the day-to-day lead for client accounts; responsible for directing, shaping, and impacting the delivery of data-driven insights and deliverables designed to assess performance and inform strategic recommendations.

The Director, Data Strategy will act as an evangelist for data-driven measurement methodology & solutions designed to provide actionable insights that guide better decision-making for internal and external stakeholders.
This role will be responsible for managing the relationship between client and other functional leads (e.g., Client Service, Strategy, Media, Project Delivery, Data Engineering, Data Science, Creative, etc.) to establish and maintain a roadmap for all reporting and measurement efforts, actively guiding them in marketing decisions, data strategy, and analytics-related marketing technology.

What you'll do
  • Supporting and guiding the Analytics team vision for continued evolution and innovation in the analytics offerings; meeting the evolving needs of the various clients across Avalere.
  • Building and maintaining strong internal and client relationships, partnering to understand and proactively assess client needs, offering scalable and impactful solutions that best meet their challenges.
  • Authoring insightful, data-driven reports and developing strategies for dashboard delivery.
  • Partnering with Data Science on advanced analytics and machine learning modeling development.
  • Serve as a thought-leader within the organization, offering strong measurement points of view and representing the organization in new business meetings, client engagements, and industry events.

  • About You
  • Act as an evangelist for and practitioner of Data & Analytics, partnering with internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that Avalere’s solutions are data-driven, while helping identify new business opportunities and account growth.
  • Help lead and define a 1st party data strategy and audience framework for each account, tapping into relevant and innovative data partners, publishers, and vendors.
  • Develop measurement frameworks and drive adoption through collaborative partnerships with Strategy, Client Services, Data Science, Data Engineering, Media, Project Delivery, and Creative colleagues.
  • Author data-driven insights that inform strategic recommendations, collaborating with Data Science, Engagement Strategy, and Media Strategy.
  • Provide strategic direction on the evaluation, improvement, and development of data capabilities relating to data pipeline, measurement, reporting, and advanced analytics.
  • Contribute to the data product strategy & roadmap for building, enhancing, and expanding Avalere’s data products based on previous and current client experience as well as anticipated client needs.
  • Partners with Strategy, Client Services, Media, and Data colleagues to synthesize key business questions and define and implement frameworks and solutions that demonstrate value.
  • Ensure that clients and Avalere’s data ecosystem fit together while leading the implementation of any desired changes and proactively suggesting optimizations to improve data flow and quality.
  • 10+ years of experience in the measurement of digital marketing activities with strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate and lead others through ambiguity with composure, confidence, and clear communication.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the digital measurement ecosystem, including but not limited to defining and implementing measurement frameworks, multi-touch attribution, and Media Performance Measurement (MMM, MTA, Incrementality).
  • Experience with data tools including: Ad platforms, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Data Studio, Tableau, Looker, and social listening platforms.
  • Experience working with ad-tech, mar-tech, and operational data.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or Google), notably Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with ability to understand technical aspects of data analysis.
  • Ability to explain data and tell story to non-technical audiences, including the development of succinct and impactful reporting outputs.
  • Ability to understand marketing strategy and explain to technical audiences.
  • Project management skills with the ability to work efficiently across multiple teams, clients, and timelines simultaneously
