Agile Implementation Lead
Washington DC Metro area (preferred) / Remote

Marathon TS is seeking a proactive and hands-on Agile Implementation Lead with background and experience in requirements management to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for organizing and running Agile ceremonies, including PI planning events, Scrum of Scrums, and other key activities. Additionally, this role involves supporting the organization implement Agile methodologies and tools like JIRA, as well as supporting the management of requirements to ensure project success. The Agile Implementation Lead will be expected to drive, direct, craft, train, and implement Agile initiatives across the enterprise. This role demands a self-starter who thrives on actively engaging with teams and stakeholders, directly managing tasks and ensuring successful project delivery without delegating their core responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Agile Ceremonies Management:
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate PI (Program Increment) planning events.
  • Conduct and manage Scrum of Scrums, ensuring effective coordination among teams.
  • Lead other Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Support teams in implementation of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) as well as principles, practices, and tools.
  • Mentor team members on the effective use of Agile methodologies and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Tool Implementation and Utilization:
  • Guide teams on the effective use of Agile tools, particularly JIRA, for tracking progress and managing workflows.
  • Customize and configure JIRA to meet the specific needs of the teams and projects.
  • Monitor and ensure proper use of Agile tools, providing support and troubleshooting as needed.

Requirements Management:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, document, and prioritize software requirements.
  • Ensure requirements are clearly communicated and understood by development teams.
  • Maintain a well-organized and up-to-date backlog of requirements in JIRA or other relevant tools.
  • Assist in translating business needs into technical requirements and user stories.
  • Ensure traceability of requirements through the development lifecycle.

Process Improvement and Agile Playbook Implementation:
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Document Agile process as part of comprehensive Agile Playbook to drive lean Agile process flows across the enterprise.
  • Implement Agile Plays, working with teams to operationalize processes into everyday activities.
  • Assist with development of System Engineering Plan (SEP) as a governing document defining Agile processes and lifecycle.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand and address their needs and feedback.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and adaptability within the organization.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between development teams and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Communicate progress, impediments, and changes to the broader organization effectively.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:
  • Proven experience as an Agile Coach, Scrum Master, or Agile Project Manager in a software development environment.
  • Extensive experience organizing and facilitating Agile ceremonies, including, but not limited to PI planning, Scrum of Scrums, etc.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.).
  • Experience in requirements management, including gathering, documenting, and prioritizing requirements.

Skills:
  • Proficiency with Agile tools, particularly JIRA.
  • Ability to document, implement, and drive Agile adoption at the portfolio level.
  • Excellent training and mentoring skills, with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

Preferred Certifications:
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Professional (CSP).
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or other relevant Agile certifications.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP).

Additional requirements:
  • US Citizenship required
  • Has a DoD CAC (Common Access Card) or ability to obtain a CAC
