Threat Hunter, Mid

The Opportunity:

Cyber threats are evolving, and perimeter security and automated protection aren’t enough—it’s time to go threat hunting. We need your cyber knowledge to detect advanced cyber threats in Cloud and O365 environments as well as on servers and endpoints. Instead of letting the attackers come to us, let’s go find them.

We’re looking for an experienced Detection Engineer who can think like a cyber attacker to figure out how to circumvent security measures. You’ll use your experience and analytical skills to iteratively query large datasets to identify anomalies and attack techniques. Work with our team of experienced Detection Engineers to review intel and hunt for activity pertaining to emerging threats, develop new hunt analytics, identify visibility gaps, and recommend improvements to the firm's security posture. With your technical expertise, you’ll build creative solutions to improve the firm's defense of cyber threats. This is a chance to think differently about cyber defense, use completely new tools and approaches, and develop the next generation of security analytics. You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience working in cybersecurity with an emphasis in threat hunting and detection engineering

  • Experience in threat hunting using Azure audit logs

  • Experience in threat hunting in AWS and GCP

  • Knowledge of data sources and artifacts from various platforms and technologies across network, endpoint, and applications

  • Knowledge of current threat landscape, including TTPs of advanced threat actors

  • Knowledge of detection frameworks, including MITRE ATT&CK and SIGMA

  • Ability to analyze logs and develop advanced queries in Splunk SPL, KQL, or Arcsight

  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with non-Windows operating systems, including MacOS and Linux

  • Experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF) and web based attacks

  • Ability to write scripts, including Python, Powershell, and Bash

  • Experience with endpoint telemetry, Carbon Black, FireEye HX, Falcon, Tanium, or Endgame

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees. This posting will close within 90 days from the Posting Date.
