Position Overview


 

The Director of Logistics will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and secure movement of energy storage systems across the globe. This position will lead a talented team of logistics professionals and work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the logistics processes, meet regulatory compliance requirements, and drive improvement across major operational efficiency processes. Improvements will be aimed at the following:

  • Capacity Verification
  • Production Scheduling
  • Materials Requirements Planning
  • Receiving & Warehouse Management
  • Packaging
  • Inventory Management
  • Shipping
  • Customer Satisfaction
  • Materials Service Order Management
  • Customer Requirements Identification

Additionally, the Director Logistics will focus on optimization and standardization of the company’s objectives, in support of the Supply Chain VP’s vision. Furthermore, the Materials & Logistics, through a collaboration and a combination of team and facilitative leadership will support other company’s style business units, including:

Responsibilities


 

General Leadership

  • Lead Logistics strategy across the company by providing strong leadership and displaying outstanding management skills
  • Direct the strategy and execution for procurement, planning and logistics operations
  • Maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure efficient systems and procedures, implementing corrective actions in support of KPIs. Responsible for managing, goal setting and continuous improvement for a growing team in all aspects of planning, warehousing and logistics
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the department and through collaboration with cross-functional teams to improve overall organizational performance
  • Develop metrics for tracking department(s) performance targeting continuous improvement
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network, reducing cost year over year
  • Conduct and document compliance checks (legislative, regulatory, certification, audits, accreditation, etc.)
  • Take ownership of the annual department budget, tracking and reporting any variances, deviations or any other issues to the VP of Supply Chain
  • Lead and mentor a team of logistics professional, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement

Logistics

  • Oversee the end-to-end logistics operations, including transportation and distribution; ensuring timely and accurate delivery of products in domestic and international markets
  • Maintain and manage all aspects of 3rd party logistics providers, forwarders, and customs and trade organizations
  • Continually analyze and  manage the transportation network, including air, sea, and road transportation, to ensure timely and lowest possible rates of incoming components and outgoing products to customers and distribution centers.
  • Standardize and optimize the Logistic processes by developing and implementing SOPs
  • Review the current metrics reporting program and recommend and achieve improvements
  • Work with Manufacturing and customer service to maintain best-in-class Perfect Order Quality targets.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and strategic partnerships with suppliers.
  • Continually Identify, quantify, propose, and implement new programs to improve service, reduce costs, and meet the evolving needs of the business

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, logistics, supply chain, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain, with at least 5 years of leadership and management experience
  • Experience in managing domestic and international operations
  • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations
  • Advance knowledge of ERP systems and other logistics software and tools
  • Must be able to lawfully work within the US and have unrestricted work authorization for US 
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA with a focus in Operations or Supply Chain Management
  • Battery industry experience
  • APICS Certifications - CPIM or CSCP
