What’s the job? 

Step into a pivotal position managing and optimizing our expansive cloud ecosystem encompassing GCP, Microsoft 365, Azure, and AWS. This role will assist with day to say operational support and be a key contributor and advisor to strategic projects and standards development and will coordinate closely with architects and other key stakeholders. Your contributions focus on security, automation initiatives, and the optimisation of our cloud services with a focus on student, academic and staff outcomes. We leverage AWS with a planned migration for a number of services to GCP and a continual commitment to Microsoft 365 and Azure services. We are looking for someone who considers themselves a GCP and/or Azure expert with a good understanding of AWS. 

Day-to-day accountabilities: 
You will be responsible for optimizing and securing our cloud services. From automating processes to monitoring performance and driving innovation, your role ensures our technology operates flawlessly while fostering collaboration and compliance through meticulous documentation and strategic support. 

  • Optimize and secure cloud services. 

  • Utilise automation for operational efficiency and improve CI/CD, DevOps processes and use of IaC. 

  • Collaborate across teams to integrate and support on-premises technology. 

  • Identify opportunities for cloud adoption and migrating away from on-premises. 

  • Drive innovation through the evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies. 

  • Ensure high availability of our platforms in response to business continuity requirements. 

  • Drive platform excellence by ensuring best practice design and implementation practices are used to deliver well-architected, secure, and cost-efficient solutions.

This is a full-time permanent position with flexible working arrangements, allowing you to work remotely and from a campus near you Wakefield Adelaide, Flinders Street Melbourne, Surry Hills/Ultimo Sydney, Bowen Terrace Brisbane. 

Who you are 

You bring expertise in optimizing and securing cloud environments. You excel in automation, monitoring performance, and integrating systems. Your innovation-driven approach ensures compliance and efficiency through advanced technology adoption and clear communication. 

  • Minimum 8 years' experience in infrastructure engineering. 

  • Industry-related cloud certifications are highly advantageous. 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience. 

  • Hands-on cloud experience with a focus on 365, Azure, or GCP. 

  • AWS knowledge is essential in addition to expertise in GCP or Azure. 

  • Strong skills in automation tools, Git, and Linux systems (ssh, shell scripting). 

  • Proven problem-solving and analytical abilities, delivering innovative solutions. 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
