Engineering Director at Cold Iron Studios

Position Summary

Cold Iron is seeking an experienced Engineering Director to join us. This position is fully remote and open to applicants across the US and Canada.

Your Day to Day

You can expect to be responsible and accountable for the following:

• Leverage your senior programming and leadership experience to drive efforts to design, schedule, and implement features that meet requirements from art, design, and animation teams
• Be the primary point of contact to triage technical issues and assign tasks to the software team
• With the production team, identify and manage dependencies and risks across projects and teams
• Work across disciplines to evaluate, define and set long term strategy for the studio’s future
• Evaluate, establish, and maintain business relationships with technology partners.
• Communicate effectively with your colleagues
• Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems, or questions with programs

Requirements

• Minimum 10 years experience
• Minimum 4 titles shipped (2 as a lead engineer)
• Expert in C++
• Further experience driving software development with engineering, quality assurance, and functional teams
• Ability to present sophisticated software development architecture to technical and non-technical partners in diverse settings
• Ability to lead teams through conflict resolution and risk management
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Validated track record managing multiple, ongoing complex projects and implementation of software applications, while delivering on schedule
• Proven track record of problem solving with a focus on clean, simple solutions

Would Love to See

• Have shipped multiple games from pre-production/prototyping to launch/ post launch support
• Have shipped on multiple platforms with simultaneous launch preferred
• Experience with Unreal Engine (current project 4.27 but 5.x going forward)
• Experience with other game engines to compare / contrast
• Experience with other programming languages (e.g. Go, Python, Javascript)

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or related degree or equivalent industry experience

Salary Range

• $175,000-$195,000 USD

• This position is fully remote and open to applicants across the US and Canada.
