Summary of Job Duties:
The Education Instructor is responsible to the Dean of General Education.
Classes taught may be: Intro to Education, Educational Technology, Development & Learning Theories, Teaching Learners with Exceptionalities, Integrated Curriculum & Assessment Planning.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Conduct classes as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services. Faculty will be expected to teach approximately 15 credit hours each semester.
• Maintain office hours up to 15 hours a week to assure availability to students. instructor’s scheduled time on campus should total to a minimum of 30 hours per week.
• Keep sufficient and accurate records to support grades assigned in all classes taught; submitting grades in a timely manner as required by the Registrar's Office.
• Develop and ensure a syllabus for each course taught is on file in the office of the Division Chair and that any revisions made are on file.
• Serve as advisor for students assigned which includes meeting with students to determine schedules, plan course of study and referring students to the proper personnel for counseling, financial aid, etc.
• Serving as advisor for student organizations within the department (if applicable) and actively cooperate with the program Advisory Committee (if applicable).
• Maintain skills and knowledge within the discipline. Atten professional development activities on campus and can attend activities off campus.
• Participate in the review and selection of the textbooks and/or other materials needed for each course taught.
• Actively cooperate with the Advisory Committee for his or her program (if applicable). Faculty are expected to incorporate Advisory Committee feedback as appropriate.
• Attend functions at the college as requested by administrative officers (graduation, open house, etc.).
• Completing all required reports, including but not limited to the Departmental Assessment Report and Faculty Self-Evaluation, within the prescribed time frame.
• Demonstrating consistent professionalism with students and commitment to working cooperatively with campus personnel to fulfill the Mission of the College.
• Other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services.
