Your missions

This role focuses on advancing the principles of recovery, resilience, and the inclusion of youth and family voices within systems of care. The position involves providing leadership and expert guidance, delivering technical assistance and training to Magellan staff, providers, families, and youth, and representing the organization at community-based meetings. The program manager will exemplify recovery and resiliency principles in all interactions with Magellan staff, providers, community partners, youth, and families.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation on family-run and youth-run recovery services, including peer support, to the Care Management Entity (CME), state, providers, and community-based agencies.
  • Champion the integration of youth and family involvement and voice in all service delivery facets, monitoring impact and outcomes.
  • Manage the Magellan Youth Leaders Inspiring Future Empowerment (MY LIFE) program, including program development and delivery of youth empowerment initiatives.
  • Organize and facilitate family and youth focus groups and advisory committees to identify strengths and improvement opportunities within the CME and broader care system.
  • Develop training curricula, educational materials, program standards, descriptions, and outcome expectations for various system of care services and materials directed at youth, families, providers, and community-based agencies.
  • Support departments in aligning provider networks with recovery, resiliency, and system of care principles.
  • Develop and maintain training initiatives for both Magellan staff and network provider staff, including online modules and conferences.
  • Oversee pilot projects that advance family and youth-run recovery initiatives.
  • Facilitate the replication of innovative programs across the care management entity and care system.
  • Stay updated on trends and developments in family and youth-run initiatives, recovery, wellness, and related fields.
  • Promote recovery and resiliency principles through partnerships with mental health advocacy groups and major campaigns.
  • Represent Magellan at state and local conferences to promote family and youth-run initiatives.

Responsibilities

Minimum 5 years’ experience in family and/or youth mental health programs.
Minimum of 4+ years of lived mental health recovery experience OR parent/caregiver of a child with mental health challenges experience. This may also satisfy the education requirement if the candidate does not have a bachelor's degree.
Self-identification as an individual living with mental health recovery or as a parent/caregiver of a child with mental health challenges is required; previous engagement in child-serving mental health systems or experience as a parent/caregiver navigating such systems is preferred.
Active involvement in peer support advocacy organizations or similar groups with a leadership role is desirable.
Must possess a current state peer specialist certification and be willing to obtain a national certified peer support credential within one year of hire.
Strong analytical and independent decision-making skills; able to address complex situations not covered by existing policies or protocols.
Positive, recovery-oriented attitude that conveys hope and maintains empathy.
Must own a reliable vehicle for regular community-based travel.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Capable of working independently and within a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
In-depth knowledge of mental health recovery principles, systems of care, wellness strategies, and community-based support services for youth, families, and parents.
