IT Systems Design Engineer

Summary:

The IT Systems Design Engineer shall design and implement advanced IT solutions for broadcast, sports, large venue, digital signage/IPTV, corporate and educational clients.  The Engineer will work closely with the sales staff and engineering team members to provide both general/specific recommendations on equipment, technologies and implementation.  Upon sale, the IT Systems Engineer shall provide drawings, configuration and testing of equipment/systems directly or in coordination with other engineering team members. Alpha places a heavy emphasis on a collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate effectively and consult with the Sales team or other members of the Engineering team to establish customer needs and prepare solutions for presentation along with managing client expectations.
• Partner with Sales team to recommend general and specific solutions to clients.
• Design IT solutions for quoting including equipment, parts, consumables and labor.
• Write scopes of work to convey system expectations.
• Diagram systems using diagraming software like Visio when required.
• Present system proposals with sales team.
• Lead, perform or collaborate in complex IT configuration of IP-based networks and solutions.
• Provide technical support to Alpha employees and clients in your areas of expertise.
• Research new products to remain current on technology solutions.
• All other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate.

Requirements:

• Up to 30% travel, often on a last-minute basis
• Occasional evening and weekend work

• Superior ability to collaborate and consult with team members to help provide knowledge and problem solving.
• Broadcast Production Experience with understanding of roles and responsibilities in a broadcast control room.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of system configurations, with an emphasis placed on client workflow.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry best practices.
• IT infrastructure knowledge, including storage, server configuration, Switch configuration, SANs, IP-based audio and video technologies, and knowledge of video encoding and multicast network design.
• Advanced network engineering experience.
• Self-motivated

• Ability to solve unusual or unexpected technical and installation problems.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of five (+5) years relevant experience

Certificates and Licenses:

• Valid driver’s license & ability to obtain passport.
• Ability to obtain gaming licenses in various jurisdictions.
• Cisco CCNA or equivalent
• ComTIA N+, S+ or equivalent experience
• CTS, CTS-D preferred
• AWS Cloud Architect Associate or similar

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, raise, lower, push or carry up to 50 lbs. from ground to waist, waist to overhead and from one surface to another at mid level.
• Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work on equipment that is over individuals head and shoulders/at or below the shoulders while standing/sitting.
• Ability to walk/navigate/stand on both even and uneven surfaces.
• Physical dexterity to manipulate small parts including ability to grasp and pinch small objects.
• Ability to enter text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard or 10-Key.
• Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (that is, working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers.
• Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more.
• Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech both in person, by telephone or other technology.
• Ability to accurately determine color and distinguish between colors.
