Your missions

At Wizards of the Coast, we connect people around the world through play and imagination. From our genre-defining games like Magic: The Gathering® and Dungeons & Dragons® to our growing multiverse, we continue to innovate and build new ways to foster friendship and connection. That’s where you come in!

On Magic: The Gathering Arena’s feature team, we work with a diverse group of engineers, artists, designers, and QA to translate the tabletop experience, including ever-changing new card sets, to a digital experience for an enormous, thriving community. As a part of this team, you will be directly involved in crafting the experience for millions of dedicated and enthusiastic players.

If you are a Technical UI Designer who loves Magic: The Gathering Arena and wants to help build exciting features that enrich the player experience while working with phenomenal people at Wizards of the Coast, this job is for you!

What You'll Do:

  • Own, drive, and improve the Magic: The Gathering - Arena's user experience from feature ideation through to implementation in Unity.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated interdisciplinary team of versatile producers, programmers, artists, feature designers, and QA.
  • Be responsible for consistent player-experience flows and user interfaces to achieve product goals to build an exciting and rewarding player experience.
  • Facilitate collaborative design reviews and deliver hands-on implementation in coordination with and support from the feature squad's dedicated artists and engineers.
  • Coordinate with production to scope, prioritize, and help schedule the implementation of complex and sophisticated features.
  • Continually improve the player experience and work collaboratively to develop strategic plans to tackle emergent, problematic areas.
  • Add-to and build on the successful elements of the user experience as the game continues to evolve and attract new audiences.
  • Engage in mentoring relationships with fellow designers and other game development team members to learn and refine more sophisticated design, collaboration, and design practices.
  • Advocate for the best user interface and user experience design through competitive analysis and design reviews.
  • Join an empowered squad of experienced developers to improve the production process through frequent squad sprint retros.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in UI, UX, or Graphic / Digital Design.
  • 3+ Years of Professional Interaction, UX, and/or UI design/development experience with one or more shipped titles.
  • Experience implementing designs in Unity or a similar environment.
  • Experience with live services support.
  • Experience in interaction design and crafting intuitive interfaces that drive social engagement.
  • Able to function in an Agile development environment.
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-designers (engineering, art, UX, production, and business personnel).
  • Help build the best-in-class game in this genre.
