This is a critical marketing leader and hands-on role within the APJ Marketing Team, responsible for the successful execution of the End User and Channel Marketing Strategy across the primary region of Japan with the additional responsibility of channel through marketing in smaller markets – Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.
 
The North Asia Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and executing marketing strategy, campaigns and activities across all target audiences (new business, customer, and partner), leveraging all communication vehicles and communication touch points including PR, digital, online, events and sponsorships.
The primary responsibility and centre to success in this role is demand generation and demand capture programs to support and sustain the continued direct pipeline and channel partner growth objectives of the business.
 
This role requires an experienced channel marketing and demand generation marketing professional to lead a 1 direct report and influence the broader marketing services team, working closely with various virtual teams across Asia Pacific and the world in order to meet & exceed Sophos’ regional business goals. 
 
The role requires working closely with the Japan and Greater China sales leaders as well as the channel and SE teams to ensure strong alignment on strategy, execution and end-to-end partnership, facilitating an environment that enables consistent double digit pipeline and revenue growth, along with ensuring an optimum Channel marketing to and through program.

What you will do
  • Own the communications strategy, tactical plan and execution required to deliver effective ‘to channel’ communications and ‘through channel’ programs, fully understanding the needs of these types of Sophos partners for Japan and Hong Kong, Taiwan and Korea.
  • Work closely with the Country Sales and Channel leads for each region to ensure clear alignment across all plans
  • Leverage and localise a program of activity to support recruitment, onboarding and transacting of partners using a broad range of communication strategies including; direct marketing, events, telemarketing, social media and advertising.
  • Implement, and promote the MDF Menu to enable partners to run demand generation & capture activities, events, blitz days and other marketing activities on behalf of (and partially funded by) Sophos.   
  • Build brand awareness and preference for Sophos in the Japan SMB, commercial markets and channel community through various brand awareness, contact building and PR campaigns.
  • Work with the APJ and global channel function in ensuring the needs of each country in North Asia are captured within Sophos’s Partner portal, and partner program and are communicated appropriately.
  • Execution and planning lead for all events across Japan, both virtual and in-person – ensure an overall events plan is maintained across all audiences. Ensure Sophos business goals are met or exceeded by reviewing outcomes of all events.  Includes management of large industry trade shows as deemed relevant to support.
  • Plan, share and execute a strong quarterly webinar program that touches both end user and partner audiences. This plan should primarily execute against the central APJ plan.
  • Working in partnership with the Global & APJ PR team, to execute a consistent and integrated PR messaging platform, by leveraging local news alongside the central global and APJ initiatives & messaging framework. Ensuring a seamless transition in message across comms vehicles from targeted publications, social media platforms, digital campaigns, webinars, eDMs and face-to-face activity.
  • Administer and develop localised promotions related to the Partner Incentive (Sophos Rewards) program. Leverage existing plans and promotions for fast and simple execution locally, along with quarterly local SPIFFs as required. Where possible in Japan and where financially viable in conjunction with distributors in HK, TW and Korea.
  • Creation and delivery of an annual marketing plan including budget management and ROI reporting ensuring activity is on time and within budget
  • Manage Sophos supplier relationships (for example, telemarketing, 3rd party event companies, print, and design) to ensure project objectives are met with excellent value for money for Sophos.
  • Work effectively as part of the APJ Marketing team contributing to overall team success and suggesting improvements to maximise performance.
