Principal Software Architect - Permanent - 17385

About The Opportunity

A growing software company, headquartered in the U.S. with a growing contingent of remote Canadian talent, is looking for a Principal Software Architect to join their growing R&D group. With over 25 years of history, this well-known telecommunications software brand has hundreds of customers globally and continues to gobble up market share. This individual will process business, operational, and technical requirements, gathered from customers and internal stakeholders, into conceptual models and POC’s, product roadmaps, etc. while also leading the execution of product development. This role will involve some hands-on work and is essentially a Principal Architect + Engineer role.

Although this company offers a competitive compensation package, they are rather known for their innovative software solutions and business growth. Although this software company is 100% remote-friendly, only candidates in Canada in the eastern timezone (ET) will be considered.

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering Mathematics or equivalent
  • 10+ years of software development experience using Core Java/J2EE ideally within the telecommunications domain building multi-threaded applications
  • 4+ years of Architect-level experience creating product roadmaps and providing strategic vision for software products
  • Experience with microservices based architecture, Docker and Kubernetes containerization, AWS and/or Azure cloud services, big data solutions, etc.
  • Full-stack web development experience with exposure to front-end JS frameworks such as React and Angular is a strong asset
  • Good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work both in team and autonomous (remote) environments

Attitude and aptitude takes precedence over a perfect technical match.
