Purpose of the Position

UMA Alumni Services team supports UMA’s Vision statement “to provide successful career outcomes through a culture of innovation, commitment and service” beyond entry level career assistance. We encourage Alumni engagement by providing access to tools that empower our alumni to adapt and thrive in a dynamic job market. This position provides a high level of graduate support to UMA alumni which may include career development, resume review, job search strategies, interviewing techniques, professional development, and securing certification and credentialing in their field-of-study. This position will provide career coaching for the purposes of furthering UMA graduates’ careers in healthcare.   

 

The Alumni Career Advisor reports to the Manager/Director of Alumni and Certification Services.

 

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

 

  • Anticipated starting rate of $20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

 

Functional:

  • Identifies and develops opportunities for one-on-one career coaching with the objective of achieving tangible and timely outcomes with UMA alumni.
  • Schedules and facilitates coaching sessions to assist UMA alumni to develop strategic business solutions/search strategies including, but not limited to career planning, goal setting, networking strategies, professional development, and skill building.
  • Maintains records of UMA graduate support and career progression.
  • Coordinates with Academic Coaching to provide certification preparation techniques through the learning management system, and other platforms as needed.
  • Stays current of industry updates and trends in hiring in the healthcare sector through networking groups, publications, and association affiliations to be a source of accurate market intelligence for alumni seeking career growth or change in employment.
  • Documents alumni coaching interactions and activity according to UMA policies.
  • Meets and exceeds service quality and Service Level Agreement standards/metrics as set by the organization.
  • Participates in group coaching sessions and professional development workshops to educate alumni on industry trends, define and refine career plans, review/enhance search materials and strategies, professional development, and skills enhancement as needed.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.

Compliance

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

 

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Customer Service, Professional Coaching, and/or Healthcare Recruiting
  • Excellent oral and written skills required with ability/willingness to conduct group presentations or instructions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and high level of internet competency required.
  • History of developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Proven track record of project completions, managing multiple deliverables, and the ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Project Management experience
  • Compliance driven experience
